Compass Energy Systems is looking for an experienced B-Pressure Welder to join our Plant 1 team. Reporting to the Foreman and Lead Hand, the B-Pressure Welder is responsible for providing skilled, high-quality pressure welding and fabrication on spools and vessels, while working safely, efficiently, and within required time frames and quality standards.

What You Will Do

Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

- Perform B-Pressure welding and fabrication on spools and/or vessels.
- Fabricate and weld spools and pressure piping components.
- Fit spools and vessels as required.
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and welding process specifications.
- Follow all applicable welding procedures and specifications.
- Set up and operate welding machines and related equipment.
- Demonstrate proficiency with applicable welding processes, including GMAW and SMAW.
- Identify material or equipment deficiencies and communicate them to the Foreman/Lead Hand.
- Communicate effectively with other workers to ensure timely job progression.
- Follow written and verbal instructions from the Foreman/Lead Hand.
- Identify workplace hazards and use appropriate controls to mitigate risk.




- Participate in and comply with Compass Quality Control and HSE/Safety programs.
- Follow Compass policies and procedures, including those outlined in the Employee Handbook and HSE Manual.
- Operate tools, equipment, overhead cranes, and other shop equipment safely and competently.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and protected work area and keep equipment clean and functional.
- Direct, coach, and mentor apprentices as required.
- Assist in other areas of the shop as required and assigned by the Foreman/Lead Hand.

What You Bring Your education and experience include:

- Journeyman Welder with a valid B-Pressure Certificate.
- Minimum 2 years of related pressure welding experience, preferably in spool welding, pipe welding, fabrication, or industrial settings.
- Proficient in GMAW and SMAW; experience with MCAW is considered an asset.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and welding specifications.
- Knowledge and understanding of Quality Control requirements and procedures, including CWB, ASME, and ABSA.
- Knowledge and understanding of OH&S;, rigging, and overhead crane operation.
- Strong organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and safely lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
- Must have your own tools as outlined on the company Tradesmen Tool List.
