SKY Secondary School is a BC Ministry of Education and Child Care certified independent school located in Langley, BC. We are committed to providing an exceptional academic program for students in Grades 9-12 within a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment.

Our academically focused program is designed around smaller class settings, allowing our teachers to build meaningful relationships with students, provide consistent feedback, and respond to individual learning needs.

Our BC-certified teachers guide students through the BC Curriculum and graduation program requirements leading to the BC Certificate of Graduation (Dogwood Diploma) while preparing students for post-secondary education and life beyond high school.

Beyond academic achievement, SKY Secondary strives to help students develop the critical-thinking, communication, collaboration, independence, and problem-solving skills necessary to successfully navigate their future education and the world beyond high school.

Position Overview

SKY Secondary School is seeking a dedicated, engaging, and collaborative BC Certified High School Teacher to join our secondary teaching team.

The successful candidate will primarily teach Humanities and elective courses, with specific teaching assignments determined according to the candidate's qualifications, experience, subject-area strengths, and school scheduling needs.

We are looking for an educator who enjoys working with secondary students, values smaller classroom environments, and can provide engaging and individualized instruction while maintaining high academic expectations.

Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

- Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging lessons based on the BC Curriculum.
- Teach Humanities and elective courses according to assigned teaching areas.
- Develop organized instructional plans incorporating lectures, discussions, individual and collaborative activities, projects, presentations, and appropriate technology.
- Use a variety of instructional and assessment strategies to support different learning styles and student needs.
- Assign, assess, and provide timely feedback on assignments, projects,



homework, presentations, quizzes, and tests.
- Monitor student progress and identify individual academic and learning needs.
- Differentiate instruction and provide appropriate support or enrichment for students.
- Prepare student progress reports, learning updates, report cards, and other required documentation.
- Maintain accurate attendance, assessment, and student records.
- Communicate professionally with parents and guardians regarding student progress, achievement, and areas requiring additional support.
- Work collaboratively with school administration, teachers, and support staff.
- Participate in staff meetings, educational conferences, professional development, and teacher-training workshops.
- Participate in school events, field trips, extracurricular activities, and student supervision as required.
- Support mentorship, clubs, and other aspects of student life within the school community.
- Contribute to curriculum planning and the continued development of school programs.
- Perform other professional duties as assigned by school administration.

Required Qualifications

Applicants must possess

- A valid British Columbia Certificate of Qualification (COQ) with the Teacher Regulation Branch.
- Bachelor of Education or equivalent recognized teaching qualification.
- Bachelor's degree or appropriate academic background relevant to the teaching assignment.
- Strong knowledge of the BC Curriculum and graduation requirements.
- Strong classroom management, organization, and communication skills.
- Ability to develop positive relationships with secondary students.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a small school team.
- Ability to differentiate instruction and support students with a range of learning needs.

Please note:



A valid BC Certificate of Qualification is required for this position. Preferred Qualifications The following would be considered assets:

- Previous teaching experience in Grades 9-12.
- Experience teaching English Language Arts, Social Studies, Career Education, and electives.
- Ability to teach across multiple subject areas.
- Experience supporting or teaching English Language Learners (ELL).
- Experience working within an independent school.
- Experience with BC assessment, reporting, and graduation requirements.
- Interest and ability to lead extracurricular clubs, student activities, or mentorship programs.
