Help us build the financial foundation for what comes next.

The Toronto Local Charity (TLC) helps young people aged 16 to 29 across the GTA break the cycle of poverty, by changing how they see themselves and what they believe is possible.

Built by people with lived experience and powered almost entirely by volunteers, TLC has reached the point where demand for our programs is outpacing what volunteers alone can deliver. Our 2026–2028 strategic plan moves us from growing by instinct to growing on solid footing, starting with funding a paid Executive Director role.

WHY THIS ROLE IS DIFFERENT

You won't be maintaining a big, finished machine. You'll help design it, and tell the story our numbers tell about the impact of every donation.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

- Serve as the board's financial lead and chair our finance committee
- Work with our Executive Director on the annual budget and a QuickBooks financial update for each board meeting

- Help build our three-year budget, operating reserve, and financial controls as we bring on our first staff
- Turn our numbers into a explicit story for donors and funders, and connect our budget to our strategic goals

WHAT YOU BRING

- A CPA or similar designation, or equivalent hands-on experience with nonprofit or small-organization finances
- A knack for explaining numbers, and the story behind them, to people who don't live in spreadsheets
- A genuine interest in helping young people break the cycle of poverty

Don't tick every box? Please apply anyway.

THE DETAILS

- Commitment: Volunteer board role, about 3 to 5 hours a month, 2-year term
- Location: Greater Toronto Area, mostly virtual
- Deadline: Friday, October 30, 2026 (we may close early if we find the right person)
