Founded in 1959, Alliance Mercantile Inc., is a large multinational manufacturer of waterproof outerwear, hi visibility safety garments, industrial safety footwear, FR clothing, work gloves, and consumer packaged goods serving the industrial, retail, ad specialty markets, as well as drug, grocery and mass retailers.
Position Summary The Branch Sales and Operations Manager is responsible for the overall leadership, sales and performance of the Saint-Eustache distribution centre. This role oversees all aspects of warehouse operations, inventory management, customer service, administration, transportation, health and safety, and business development.
The Branch Sales and Operations Manager is accountable for driving operational excellence, employee engagement, customer satisfaction, and revenue growth. The successful candidate will manage the daily operation of the facility while also developing key customer relationships, identifying business growth opportunities, and increasing sales within existing and new accounts.
This is a hands-on leadership position requiring an active presence throughout the facility and in the marketplace. The Branch Sales and Operations Manager is expected to lead by example, support employees during busy periods, and work alongside the team when operational demands require additional assistance.
Key Responsibilities
Operations Leadership
- Provide overall leadership and direction for the Saint Eustache distribution centre.
- Manage all day-to-day operations including receiving, warehousing, inventory control, order fulfillment, shipping, customer service, and administration.
- Ensure operational efficiency, productivity, accuracy, and customer satisfaction.
- Develop and implement operational procedures and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Monitor operational performance metrics and take corrective action where necessary.
- Coordinate transportation and logistics activities to ensure timely delivery of customer orders.
- Maintain a clean, organized, secure, and efficient facility.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and operational standards.
- Drive a culture of accountability, teamwork, customer service, and continuous improvement.
Warehouse & Inventory Management
- Oversee all warehouse activities including receiving, storage, inventory control, order picking, packing, and shipping.
- Ensure inventory accuracy through cycle counts, physical inventories, and inventory audits.
- Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies and operational variances.
- Optimize warehouse layout, storage utilization, workflow, and productivity.
- Ensure products are properly stored, handled, and protected.
- Monitor inventory levels and work closely with purchasing and supply chain personnel to maintain service levels.
- Ensure customer orders are fulfilled accurately and shipped on time.
- Manage warehouse equipment and facility maintenance requirements.
Sales, Business Development & Key Account Management
- Increase revenue, profitability, and market share throughout assigned territory.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with major accounts, strategic customers, distributors, and key decision makers.
- Identify opportunities to increase sales within existing accounts through cross-selling, upselling, and expanded product offerings.
- Conduct regular customer visits, business reviews, and relationship-building activities.
- Develop account growth plans and sales strategies for major customers.
- Collaborate with outside sales representatives and senior management to achieve sales and profitability objectives.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities within the territory.
- Monitor customer purchasing patterns and proactively identify sales opportunities.
- Support contract negotiations, pricing discussions, and customer retention initiatives.
- Participate in customer presentations, industry events, trade shows, and networking activities.
- Resolve customer concerns and service issues promptly to strengthen customer relationships.
- Prepare sales forecasts, pipeline updates, and business development plans.
- Serve as a key ambassador for the company within the assigned territory
- Take ownership for growing key accounts and contributing to overall company sales objectives.
Customer Service & Administrative Management
- Lead customer service and inside sales support personnel.
- Ensure customers receive prompt, professional, and responsive service.
- Monitor service levels and customer satisfaction metrics.
- Resolve customer complaints and escalated service issues.
- Oversee branch administrative functions and office operations.
- Ensure accurate processing of orders, returns, credits, and customer documentation.
- Maintain accurate records and reporting requirements.
- Monitor and review operating expenses
Team Leadership & Employee Development
- Recruit, train, mentor, and develop employees across warehouse, customer service, sales support, and administration.
- Establish clear performance expectations and accountability standards.
- Provide ongoing coaching and development.
- Foster a positive workplace culture built on professionalism, teamwork, accountability, and mutual respect.
- Ensure fair and consistent application of company policies and procedures.
- Partner with Human Resources to address employee relations matters.
Health & Safety
- Promote and maintain a strong safety culture throughout the facility.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, provincial, and company health and safety requirements.
- Conduct regular workplace inspections.
- Ensure employees receive all required training and certifications.
- Investigate incidents and implement corrective actions.
- Support Joint Health and Safety Committee activities and initiatives.
- Ensure safe work practices are consistently followed throughout the operation.
Hands-On Leadership Expectations This is not a sit-in-the-office management position.
The Sales and Operations Manager is expected to maintain a visible presence throughout the facility and actively engage with employees, customers, and daily operations.
Success in this role requires a leader who is willing to roll up their sleeves, support the team during busy periods, and lead by example.
The Sales and Operations Manager will:
- Spend significant time on the warehouse floor and in operational areas.
- Maintain regular interaction with warehouse, customer service, sales support, and administrative personnel.
- Assist employees during peak periods, inventory counts, staffing shortages, and major operational initiatives.
- Support receiving, shipping, order fulfillment, and customer service activities when required.
- Build credibility and trust through active leadership and involvement.
- Identify operational challenges firsthand and implement practical solutions.
- Foster a culture where teamwork, accountability, and mutual support are expected from all employees.
- Demonstrate the attitude, work ethic, and professionalism expected throughout the organization.

Qualifications
Education
- Post-secondary education in Business Administration, Operations Management, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or a related field preferred.
- Equivalent combinations of experience and education will be considered.
Experience
- Minimum 5-7 years of progressive management experience in a distribution, warehouse, logistics, industrial, wholesale, or supply chain environment.
- Sales and category management of National and/or Regional Drug, Grocery and Mass retailers, particularly Quebec based.
- Sales and category management to National and/or Quebec based industrial distributors.
- Proven experience managing warehouse operations and inventory control.
- Experience developing customer relationships and growing major accounts.
- Demonstrated success in business development and sales growth.
- Experience with ERP and warehouse management systems.
