The Opportunity

We are seeking an Intermediate Building Code Consultant to join our growing team. This role is ideal for a motivated professional who enjoys solving complex code challenges, managing projects independently, and building strong client relationships.

You will take ownership of projects from kick-off through completion, providing consistent guidance and timely, high-quality service while working alongside experienced fire safety and code professionals.

Key Responsibilities

- Develop practical, innovative, and compliant building code solutions.
- Manage projects from proposal through to final deliverable.
- Prepare building code reports, alternative solutions, engineering judgments, and supporting technical documentation.
- Liaise and negotiate with Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs) to facilitate project approvals.
- Conduct building assessments, field reviews, and site inspections.
- Collaborate with architects, engineers, developers, and regulatory authorities to achieve project objectives.
- Contribute to the development of creative approaches for resolving complex building and fire safety challenges.

What We're Looking For:





Qualifications & Experience

- College Diploma, Bachelor’s degree, or Master’s degree in Construction or Engineering, preferably in the field of Fire Protection Engineering.
- 5-10 years of experience in building code consulting, fire protection consulting, or a related discipline.
- PEO Licensee or eligibility for registration in Canada is considered an asset.
- Strong working knowledge of the National Building Code of Canada (NBC) and Ontario Building Code (OBC).
- Understanding of fire and life safety principles and their application in real-world projects.
- Experience preparing code analyses, alternative solutions, and technical compliance reports is preferred.
