Providence Centre is a licensed supportive living and accredited long-term care facility. It was built in 1965 by the Sisters of Providence and is primarily the home of the Sisters.

Centre sits on a 25-acre property with beautiful grounds, a chapel, and an oratory to the Mary Mother of Sorrows. Dietary, housekeeping, linen and maintenance services are provided in-house.

Providence Centre is looking for a temporary, full time Building Maintenance Technician/ Team Lead to perform general property maintenance. Successful candidate will be reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor.

Job Availability: Immediately

Job Status: Temporary, Full-time

Hours of Work: 7.5 hours per shift

Job duties include, but not limited to:

- Be knowledgeable of, and observe operational policies, procedures, practices, as well as regulations and guidelines legislating maintenance functions in continuing care facilities
- Plan and carry out programs in repair, new construction, and equipment installation
- Leadership ability and willingness to work with and supervise other staff as needed
- Prioritize work order completion based on urgency or assigned by the supervisor
- Complete periodic preventative maintenance and safety inspections
- Check mechanical areas and maintain meter reading logs as assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor
- Liaise and/or work with third party contractors
- Perform general maintenance including minor electrical repairs, plumbing, light fixture replacement, painting,



and general housekeeping duties
- Undertake grounds-keeping activities such as parking area upkeep, clean snow and ice from walkways and parking areas; proactively ensure the property does not pose a hazardous threat to residents, visitors and the public
- Ensure building access and safety measures are functioning as intended
- Patrol the facility, including parking areas, grounds, floors, back offices and function rooms
- Report any incidents in a timely manner
- Maintain overall condition of buildings and grounds, other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

- Possess, as a minimum, valid Third (3rd) Class Power Engineering certificate
- Possess, as an asset, a certificate in any of the building trades
- Must have a minimum, two to three (2-3) years of experience in a Maintenance/Plant related position and as a Team Lead
- Must be knowledgeable of boilers, compressors, generators, etc. as well as various mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems
- ABSA (Alberta Boilers Safety Association) Fifth Class Power Engineering Certification considered an asset.
- Must have the ability to read and interpret blueprints
- Be knowledgeable in building codes and safety regulations
- Ability to work a flexible schedule that may include rotation between day/evening/night shifts, may work weekends and holidays as needed
- Available for emergency call out duty during afterhours and on weekends on a rotating basis
- Police clearance with vulnerable sector check
- Valid Alberta Class 5 driver’s license and good driving records
- Eligible to work in Canada

Job Types: Full-time, Temporary Expected hours: 37.5 per week
