The Kativik Regional Government (KRG), a supra municipal body with jurisdiction over the territory located north of the 55th parallel, is now looking for a self-motivated and energetic individual interested in joining the KRG to work in the capacity of: BUILDING MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN- PLUMBER (Permanent, on rotation) The Municipal Public Works Department (MPW) of the KRG is responsible to maintain the organization buildings (offices, police stations, airports, employees housing units, etc.) and to provide technical assistance to the 14 Northern Villages (NVs) in matters related to operation and maintenance of their recreational buildings (arenas, swimming pools, gymnasiums and community centres). Reporting to the Nunavik Maintenance Coordinator of the Building Maintenance Section, the Specialized Building Technician-Plumber performs preventive maintenance and service/repair operations on plumbing systems, fixtures, piping equipment, controls which is used for water, waste, oil, hot liquids in accordance with applicable laws and regulations. Complete timely inspections, test and accurately report equipment defects or deficiencies on a daily basis; • Perform scheduled maintenance service and repairs to plumbing and oil heating systems and fixtures; • Clean, adjust, test and repair oil heating appliances; • Install, alter and modify drainage waste and vent systems; • Assist with the scoping, estimating, planning and execution of new work projects; • Ensure all installations,
repairs and maintenance meet the requirements of the appropriate codes; • Perform general building maintenance and repairs; • Possess a vocational certificate as a Journeyman Plumber; • Have a valid class-5 driver’s licence; • Minimum of five to eight years of relevant building-systems maintenance experience emphasis with oil heating systems; • Knowledge of basic HVAC equipment; • Ability to summarize, simplify and transmit information about Plumbing principles; • Written and oral working knowledge of at least two (2) of the following languages: Inuktitut, English and French • Possess excellent analysis and problem-solving skills; • 6-3 rotation schedule: 6 weeks working in the Northern Villages (52.5 hours weekly), followed by 3 weeks paid leave (35 hours weekly) or; • 4-2 rotation schedule: 4 weeks working in the Northern Villages (52.5 hours weekly), followed by 2 weeks paid leave (35 hours weekly)
- Simplified Pension Plan: 6,25% employer, 4% employee Vacation: 20 days annually.
Statutory holidays: 20 days including 10 during the Christmas period TECHNICIEN D’ENTRETIEN DES BÂTIMENTS - PLOMBIER (Poste permanent en rotation) Le Service des travaux publics municipaux de l’ARK est responsable de l’entretien des bâtiments de l’organisation (bureaux, postes de police, aéroports, logements des employés, etc.) et d’apporter une assistance technique aux 14 villages nordiques (VN) en ce qui concerne le fonctionnement et l’entretien de leurs bâtiments de loisirs (arénas, piscines, gymnases et centres communautaires). Relevant du coordonnateur de l’entretien du Nunavik, de la section de l’entretien des bâtiments,
le technicien spécialisé en bâtiment - plombier effectue l’entretien préventif et les opérations d’entretien et de réparation des systèmes de plomberie, des appareils sanitaires, des équipements de tuyauterie, des commandes qui sont utilisés pour l’eau, les déchets, l’huile, les liquides chauds, conformément aux lois et règlements applicables. Effectuer l’entretien régulier ainsi que les réparations aux systèmes et appareils de plomberie et de chauffage au mazout
- Nettoyer, régler, vérifier et réparer les appareils de chauffage au mazout
- Aider à la définition de la portée, à l’estimation des coûts, à la planification et à l’exécution de nouveaux projets de travail
- Veiller à ce que toutes les installations, les réparations et l’entretien répondent aux exigences des codes appropriés
- Respecter les règles de sécurité
- Effectuer l’entretien général des bâtiments et les réparations
- Un minimum de cinq (5) à huit (8) ans d’expérience pertinente dans l’entretien des systèmes de bâtiment, en particulier des systèmes de chauffage à l’huile
- Capacité à résumer, simplifier et transmettre des renseignements sur les principes de la plomberie
- Connaissance pratique d’au moins deux (2) langues parmi les suivantes, à l’oral et à l’écrit : inuktitut, anglais ou français
- Posséder d’excellentes capacités d’analyse et de résolution de problèmes
- Salaire : Minimum 52 481$ et maximum 89 256$ par an (classe 8) Autres avantages sociaux : Hébergement payé par l’employeur lorsque l’employé travaille dans les villages nordiques, frais de repas et frais accessoires pour la période travaillée au Nunavik
