Experienced Butcher – Unique Management & Business Opportunity

Location: Charleswood / Roblin Blvd., Winnipeg

We are looking for an experienced, motivated Butcher to join a long-established neighbourhood butcher shop in Charleswood.

This location has operated as a butcher shop for 42 years and has an established history in the community. We are looking for the right person to help us carry that tradition forward while bringing new energy and ideas to the business.

This Isn't Just Another Butcher Position For the right individual, this could develop into much more than a job.

We are interested in meeting someone who is an excellent butcher but also has an entrepreneurial mindset—someone who may have dreamed about running their own butcher shop or food business but hasn't had the opportunity, capital, or resources to make that jump.

The business has an existing retail location, butcher shop infrastructure and equipment, and an experienced long-term employee who would like to remain with the operation.

Our immediate goal is to find an experienced butcher who can help operate and rebuild the business. If there is a robust fit and you demonstrate the ability to manage the operation successfully, there may be an opportunity to progress into a management and potential operating-partner role.

What You'll Be Doing

- Cutting, trimming and preparing beef, pork, poultry and other meat products
- Preparing products for the retail counter and custom customer orders
- Maintaining excellent standards for quality, presentation and freshness
- Assisting customers with cuts, preparation recommendations and special orders
- Maintaining proper food handling, sanitation and food-safety standards
- Helping manage inventory, ordering, product rotation and waste
- Working with the existing team to rebuild and grow the customer base
- Contributing ideas for new products, prepared foods, deli offerings and other opportunities to grow the business




- Over time, taking greater responsibility for the day-to-day operation for the right candidate

Who We're Looking For We are looking for someone with:
- Professional butchery or meat-cutting experience
- Strong knowledge of meat cuts, preparation and food safety
- Pride in workmanship and product quality
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- Reliability and a strong work ethic
- The ability to work independently and take ownership of responsibilities
- An interest in helping grow and improve a business

Retail butcher shop experience is preferred. Experience with ordering, costing, inventory, merchandising, prepared foods or managing a meat department or butcher shop would be a significant asset.
