About the Opportunity
We are seeking a CAD Technician to support our production activities. The position is responsible for preparing and maintaining foam specifications, cutting patterns, DXF files, and technical documentation used in manufacturing.
The role works closely with production to ensure drawings, specifications, dimensions, and cutting requirements are accurate, up to date, and aligned with production needs.
The sucessful candidate will also be trained as a back up to our Orderdesk operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and maintain foam specifications and cutting patterns.
- Create, modify, and maintain DXF files and revisions.
- Maintain accurate production records and technical documentation.
- Review foam grades, dimensions, thicknesses, tolerances, and cutting requirements.
- Read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Identify and resolve drawing, dimensional, or specification issues as required.
- Provide technical support to CNC, slitter, gluing, and other production processes.
- Support sample orders and new product setups.
- Follow all company safety policies and personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements.
Orderdesk Backup duties:
- Effectively handle customer service issues and purchase orders.
- Handle various administrative tasks including courier pickups and deliveries.
- Answering customer inquires.
- Assist with monthly inventory.
- Provide backup assistance for programming including ganging and nesting.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
What You'll Bring
- Recent graduate or minimum of six (6) months of experience in manufacturing or similar industry
- Hands-on experience with AutoCAD/DXF experience is required.
- Relevant technical education or equivalent practical experience is an asset.
- Manufacturing/production experience is an asset.
- Knowledge of furniture manufacturing, or related production processes is an asset.
- Ability to read and understand technical drawings and specifications.
- Strong mathematical and dimensional-checking skills.
- Robust attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to organize and maintain technical documentation and revision records.
