Job Summary

Maxville Manor is a long-term care home seeking a casual maintenance worker to provide support with the ongoing maintenance and operation of the building and grounds. The successful candidate will contribute to a secure, well-maintained, and comfortable environment for residents, staff and visitors. This role requires flexibility and availability to work on an as-needed basis, including evenings, weekends and holidays.

Duties and Responsibilities

- Carry out routine maintenance and minor repairs, including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, drywall, and flooring
- Assist with preventative maintenance programs for building systems and equipment
- Respond to maintenance requests and urgent repair needs in a timely manner
- Perform safety checks and report hazards or deficiencies
- Assist with room set-ups, furniture moves, and equipment setup
- Maintain outdoor areas, including groundskeeping and snow removal, as requested
- Operate and maintain tools and equipment safety
- Follow all workplace health, safety and infection prevention policies
- Complete basic documentation related to maintenance activities; this includes maintenance software and scheduled inspections
- Interact respectfully and professionally with residents, families and staff

Qualifications

- High school diploma or equivalent




- Minimum one year of experience in general maintenance or building operations
- Experience working in healthcare or a long term care setting is considered an asset
- Training or certification in a maintenance or trades related field is an asset
- Working knowledge of basic electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and carpentry systems
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Strong organizational and problem solving skills

Physical Requirements

- Ability to lift, push or pull up to 50 lbs
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and climb for extended periods
- Ability to work both indoors and outdoors in varying conditions

Additional Requirements

- Successful complete of a criminal record check with vulnerable sector screening
- Proof of required immunizations as per public health standards
- Valid driver's license, where required

Work Schedule This is a casual, on-call position with variable hours. Shifts may include days, evenings, weekends and statutory holidays, based on operational needs

Job Type: Casual

Pay: $24.00-$26.00 per hour
