About Tutor Doctor Richmond Hill

Tutor Doctor Richmond Hill provides personalized 1:1 tutoring to students across Richmond Hill and surrounding communities. We connect students with qualified educators who can meet their individual academic needs and help them build both competence and confidence.

We are currently looking for an experienced High School Chemistry Tutor to support students in Grades 10–12, including students in both the Academic and Applied streams.

This role is ideal for someone with strong Chemistry knowledge who can explain challenging concepts clearly and adapt instruction to different levels of student understanding.

The Role

You will provide individualized Chemistry instruction to high school students, helping them understand course concepts, complete coursework, prepare for assessments, and develop strong problem-solving skills.

Students may require support with:

- Grade 10 Science / Chemistry foundations
- Grade 11 Chemistry
- Grade 12 Chemistry
- Academic-level Chemistry
- Applied-level Chemistry
- Homework and assignments
- Unit tests and exam preparation
- Laboratory concepts and analysis
- Chemical reactions and equations
- Stoichiometry
- Solutions and concentration
- Atomic structure and periodic trends
- Chemical bonding
- Organic chemistry
- Thermochemistry
- Equilibrium
- Acids and bases
- Oxidation-reduction reactions
- Other Ontario secondary Chemistry topics

Assignments will be matched based on your demonstrated subject expertise and the student's specific needs.

What You'll Do

- Deliver engaging 1:1 Chemistry tutoring sessions
- Explain complex Chemistry concepts in a clear and approachable way
- Assess the student's current understanding and identify learning gaps




- Adapt instruction to the student's academic level and learning needs
- Support students with homework, assignments, labs, tests, and exams
- Teach students how to approach Chemistry problems rather than simply providing answers
- Reinforce foundational concepts where necessary
- Help students develop confidence and independent problem-solving skills
- Provide brief session feedback following tutoring sessions
- Communicate professionally with students, parents, and the Tutor Doctor team
- Maintain reliable attendance and punctuality

RequirementsRequired
- Strong academic background in Chemistry
- Ability to teach Ontario secondary-school Chemistry
- Demonstrated ability to explain Chemistry concepts clearly
- Experience tutoring or teaching high school students
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Reliable and professional
- Ability to provide either in-home or online tutoring

Strongly Preferred
- Experience teaching or tutoring Grades 10–12 Chemistry
- Familiarity with the Ontario Secondary School Curriculum
- Experience working with both Academic and Applied students
- OCT certification
- University degree or current university studies in Chemistry, Science, Engineering, or a related field
- Experience preparing students for Chemistry tests and exams

The Ideal Candidate We are looking for someone who can take a student who says:

"I don't understand Chemistry."





and break the material down into manageable concepts they can actually understand and apply.

You should be comfortable working with students who have different levels of preparation and confidence.

The ability to teach the same concept at different levels of complexity is particularly significant for this role.

Schedule

Tutoring is primarily scheduled during:

- Weekday afternoons/evenings
- Weekends

Tutoring may take place

- In the student's home
- Online
- At another mutually agreed-upon location
