LEX3 Engineering is seeking a self-motivated and practically minded civil engineering co-op student to work with our Bridge Engineering Team in delivering construction-related supervision services. You can expect to enjoy a mix of autonomous work and on-the-job training and support through a pairing with an experienced teammate. This opportunity will provide invaluable work experience immersed in the world of bridge fabrication and construction, learning about contract specifications, construction sequences & methodologies, quality assurance, and quality control.

The knowledge you obtain will be applied to the oversight of fabrication and construction operations, identification of issues, and problem solving. You will have the opportunity to witness the construction of bridge projects from start to finish and take pride in your contributions.

Although the position is heavily focused on construction engineering and supervision, the successful candidate will be given exposure to all phases of engineering both in and out of the office.

As a Bridge Engineering Intern, you will work within an overall team and be supported in providing on-site supervision of bridge construction activities. You can expect to be involved in some or all of the following tasks:

- Inspection of bridge construction and fabrication activities to ensure conformance to design and specifications
- Progress reporting
- Journaling and record of work
- Quantity calculations and progress estimates
- Identifying construction issues and working toward solutions
- Monitoring safety and environmental compliance
- Reviewing contractor submittals
- Assisting the Engineer of Record preliminary and detailed design tasks





Our successful candidate will have:

- 3+ years towards a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering with specialization in structural engineering
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Analytical and problem-solving skills
- Self-motivation
- Appreciation of the outdoors
- A valid drivers license and access to a reliable vehicle maintained through employment (some travel required)

Time commitment: Full time, 12-16 months, negotiable Location: Calgary, Alberta
