Overnight Cleaner – Veterinary Hospital

Friday to Sunday | 9:00 p.m. – 7:00 a.m.

The Veterinary Emergency Clinic, a busy 24-hour emergency and specialty veterinary hospital located near Yonge & Bloor in downtown Toronto, is looking for an experienced and dependable Overnight Cleaner to join our team.

This position is scheduled Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights from 9:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. As we operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, some flexibility to assist with additional evening, overnight or weekend shifts may occasionally be required.

Our cleaning team plays an important role in maintaining a safe, clean and welcoming environment for our patients, clients and staff. We are looking for someone who takes pride in their work, has excellent attention to detail and is comfortable working independently in an active veterinary hospital.

Responsibilities

Duties include maintaining the cleanliness and sanitation of the hospital and common areas, including:

- Vacuuming, mopping and sanitizing floors
- Cleaning and disinfecting washrooms, kitchen and common areas
- Washing dishes and maintaining kitchen cleanliness
- Emptying garbage and other waste receptacles
- Dusting, cleaning and disinfecting surfaces
- Following hospital infection prevention and control protocols
- Laundry
- Replenishing cleaning supplies as required
- Performing other cleaning and facility-related duties as assigned





What We're Looking For The successful candidate will:
- Have previous professional cleaning experience; experience in a healthcare, veterinary or similar environment is an asset
- Be comfortable working around animals (mostly dogs and cats) in a busy veterinary hospital
- Be able to perform physically demanding work throughout the shift, including standing, bending, lifting and carrying
- Have strong attention to detail and take pride in maintaining a high standard of cleanliness
- Be comfortable using cleaning products, disinfectants and chemicals safely
- Be dependable, punctual and able to follow established cleaning and infection-control procedures
- Have good communication and interpersonal skills
