Barrie Welding & Machine is one of Ontario’s largest custom jobbing shops, with over 250,000 sq. ft. of production space and approximately 240 employees. We provide custom machining, fabrication, automation, and repair services to a wide range of industries.

We are looking for an experienced CNC Brake Press Operator who is dependable, versatile, and takes pride in producing quality work.

Competitive wages from $28.00 - $38.00 per hr (depending on experience)

Current Brake Press Equipment

Our brake press department includes:

- 600-ton Brake Press – 90-degree capability
- 350-220-ton CNC Ermaksan Ferric Press – SPEED BEND PRO – 1/4" x 10'

Responsibilities

- Set up and operate CNC brake presses.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
- Select appropriate tooling and make machine adjustments.
- Form and bend various materials to required dimensions and tolerances.
- Perform measurements and quality inspections.
- Safely handle large and heavy components.
- Maintain a clean and safe work area.
- Work with other departments to complete jobs efficiently.
- Follow all company safety and quality procedures.

Qualifications

- Previous brake press experience, preferably in a custom fabrication or job-shop environment.
- CNC brake press operating and setup experience.
- Ability to read drawings and use measuring equipment.
- Welding experience or a welding background is strongly preferred.
- Ability to perform basic welding and fabrication work is an asset.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
- Good work ethic and reliable attendance.
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
- Ability to adapt to different jobs, materials, and changing priorities.

Job-shop experience is an asset. Our work is constantly changing,



so versatility and the ability to take on new challenges are important. We are looking for someone who can contribute beyond simply operating the brake press and who understands welding and fabrication. You will be doing both when required.

Overtime

As a custom jobbing shop, we occasionally handle critical breakdowns and time-sensitive customer requirements, so overtime is required when necessary.

- Time & half after 40 hrs
- Friday after 4:30 p.m. – Double Time
- Saturday after 4:30 p.m. – Double Time
- Sunday – Double Time
