ORGANIZATION OVERVIEW

Participation Lodge Grey-Bruce (PLGB) is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to supporting individuals with complex needs to live meaningful, self-directed lives. Across our programs throughout Grey and Bruce Counties, we provide person-centered support that promotes independence, dignity, and inclusion.

We are currently seeking Casual Community Support Workers to join our Supported Independent Living programs in Owen Sound.

As a Community Support Worker, you will assist supported individuals with daily living activities, personal care, community participation, skill development, and achieving their personal goals. No two days are the same, making this an excellent opportunity for individuals who are passionate about making a meaningful difference in the lives of others.

This is a unionized casual position under the CLAC Collective Agreement. Casual employees work on an as-needed basis, have no guaranteed hours, and are not eligible for the pension plan or perks. Casual employees may be scheduled based on operational needs and availability for day, evening, overnight, weekend, and holiday shifts.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

- Support individuals in participating fully in their homes and communities
- Assist with activities of daily living, including meal preparation, household tasks, shopping, appointments, and community outings
- Provide personal care and hygiene support as required
- Encourage independence, self-advocacy, and personal growth




- Support individuals in developing life skills, communication skills, and social connections
- Facilitate participation in recreational, vocational, and employment-related activities
- Administer medication in accordance with organizational policies and procedures
- Maintain accurate documentation, reporting, and communication with team members and support networks
- Follow Individual Support Plans and Behavioural Support Plans to ensure consistent, high-quality support
- Transport supported individuals to appointments, community activities, and recreational outings.
- Work collaboratively with families, Substitute Decision Makers (SDMs), and other members of the support network.
- Participate in required training and ongoing professional development.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIRTMENTS

Preferred Qualifications

- DSW, PSW, Human Services, Social Service Worker, or related education.
- Experience supporting individuals with developmental disabilities, acquired brain injuries, autism, mental health challenges, or complex behavioural needs.
- Experience working in community-based support settings.
- Training or experience in behavioural interventions and person-centred support.

Required Qualifications





- Valid Full G driver's licence with a satisfactory driving record
- Ability and willingness to transport supported individuals
- Vulnerable Sector Check (or willingness to obtain)
- Valid CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain) (training offered in-house)
- CPI certification (or willingness to obtain) (training offered in-house)
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and teamwork skills
- Ability to work independently and adapt to changing support needs

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIRMENTS

- Indoor and outdoor work environments
- Days, evenings, overnights, weekends, and holidays as required
- Ability to lift up to 20 kg and perform physical tasks including standing, bending, reaching, kneeling, and climbing stairs
- Computer-based documentation and administrative responsibilities
