Job Summary

Join our dedicated culinary team as a Meals on Wheels Cook/Prep Cook, where your effort directly feeds and supports vulnerable members of our community. In this role, you will prepare nutritious, high-volume meals, assist with portioning, and maintain strict kitchen hygiene to ensure timely meal assembly and dispatch. Responsibilities

- Prepare, cook, and portion balanced, batch-cooked meals adhering to dietary, nutritional, and dietary modified guidelines
- Maintain strict cleanliness and organization across all kitchen areas, including washing equipment, sanitizing prep stations, and maintaining hygiene standards
- Coordinate efficient meal delivery packaging and hot-holding thermal setups to ensure meals are ready on time for volunteer drivers and logistics teams
- Monitor stock rotation, assist with food inventory checks, and properly store incoming deliveries using First-In, First-Out (FIFO) principles
- Collaborate with kitchen staff, dietary supervisors, and delivery coordinators to ensure accurate meal count fulfillment and special dietary compliance





Experience
- Prior experience in batch cooking, institutional catering, healthcare, or high-volume food production is highly preferred
- Strong understanding of food safety regulations, sanitization standards, and proper thermal retention practices for hot/cold meal delivery
- Familiarity with special dietary requirements, allergen management, and texture-modified meal prep is an asset
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to work efficiently under strict daily production deadlines
- Strong communication, teamwork, and task-prioritization skills in a fast-paced prep environment
