Primary Duties & Responsibilities The Cook role is responsible for:
- Ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of the kitchen during each shift.
- Preparing and serving nutritious, appealing meals and snacks for campers, students, staff, and guests.
- Implementing Camp Kawartha's food philosophy and values.
- Working with the Food Services Manager to maintain compliance with all health, safety, sanitation, and food handling standards.
- Following established menu plans that align with Canada's Food Guide and Ontario Camps Association (OCA) standards.
- Maintaining a clean, organized, and hygienic kitchen environment.
- Operating within OCA food service guidelines and best practices.
- Managing food allergy accommodations and maintaining a nut-aware workplace.
- Supporting a positive dining experience for all participants.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of and acute sensitivity to the dangerous implications of food allergies
- Demonstrated understanding of the principles of preparing healthy, local, and sustainable food for children and adults.
- Willingness to adhere to and champion our Food Services philosophy.
- Exhibits initiative and self-direction, solid organizational skills, and well-developed interpersonal skills.
- Food Handlers qualifications are mandatory, as well as a current Vulnerable Sector Police Check.

- Work is time-centered, and mealtimes must be met.
