Sculpture 1. Description

An investigation of basic sculpture methods and concepts with a view toward developing personal aptitudes. Development of three-dimensional thinking through direct experience with processes using new and traditional materials. This course is not Team Taught or offered online.

Course Credits: 3

Location: Education Building (EDUC 604)

Schedule: Tuesday, 08:35 am-11:25 am

Appointment Dates: December 21, 2026 - April 30, 2027

Teaching Qualification Requirements (TQRs)

- Master educator with an MA in a relevant field (ie. Art education) and/or relevant professional experience as a visual artist or artist-educator.
- PhD or equivalent in a relevant field is an asset.

Experience

- Demonstrated knowledge of: Sculpture as an art form in which diverse materials are worked into three-dimensional art objects, Contemporary sculpture, Practical experience with construction, composition and notions of the elements of design, Tools and materials needed in the creation of sculptures.
- Previous experience teaching similar course(s) at the undergraduate or graduate level and/or equivalent relevant teaching or qualified experience.
- Experience as a visual arts teacher in the Quebec educational system.
- Familiaritywiththe13professionalcompetenciesspecifiedbytheMinistèredel’Éducation.

Other

- Knowledge of the impact and proven record integrating pedagogical approaches anchored to equity, diversity and inclusion.
- Familiarity using MyCourses, ZOOM and other similar online platforms to facilitate quality teaching and learning experiences.
- Familiarity teaching blended classes is an asset.
- Familiarity with the application of a variety of digital teaching and learning tools.
