Hiring Unit: Department of Integrated Studies in Education (DISE)

Course code and title: EDEE 260-004. Reading Methods - Kindergarten/Elementary.

Description: Methods and materials for the teaching of reading. This course is not Team Taught or offered online. This course is taught in French. A high level of proficiency in French and ability to teach in French are required.

Term: Winter 2027 Course Credits: 3 Location: Education Building (EDUC 133) Schedule: Tuesday, 11:35 am-02:25 pm Appointment dates: December 21, 2026 - April 30, 2027

Teaching Qualification Requirements (TQRs):

- Education MA in a relevant field (i.e. Reading methodologies for elementary school-aged children, science of reading) PhD or equivalent in a relevant field is an asset
- Experience as a master teacher/instructor in reading methods and/or extensive relevant experience as an elementary school educator/pedagogue.Theory and practice of teaching reading in the k/elementary classrooms Historical and contemporary issues affecting literacy/multi-literacies teaching Science of reading: reading process and applications to teaching and learning QEP Language Arts curriculum across all cycles Planning, teaching and evaluation of reading Theory and practice for struggling readers
- Experience as a master teacher/instructor in the Quebec educational system
- Knowledge of the Quebec Education Program (QEP)
- Familiarity with the skilled competencies specified by the Ministère de l’Éducation
- Other Previous successful experience teaching similar course(s) at the undergraduate or graduate level




- Knowledge of the impact and proven record integrating pedagogical approaches anchored to equity, diversity and inclusion
- Familiarity using myCourses, ZOOM and other similar online platforms to facilitate quality teaching and learning experiences
- Familiarity teaching blended classes is an asset
- Familiarity with the application of a variety of digital teaching and learning tools

Commitment to working with a team of committed and engaged instructors Must be available to attend course coordination and planning meeting in advance of course start date
