The Salvation

This role performs patient care support tasks under the instruction from the Registered Nurse (RN) and supervision of the manager. The incumbent works as a member of the Interdisciplinary Team in assisting clients with meeting their personal care needs as outlined in local Care Plans, in accordance with established organizational standards.

The role contributes to the broader mission and values of The Salvation Army, upholding standards of service that reflect its spiritual and social commitment to the community. Provide respectful, compassionate assistance with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, toileting, mobility, feeding, and personal hygiene to promote client dignity and well-being. promptly report concerns or changes to nursing staff as per established protocols. Support the secure delivery of pre-packaged medications and assist with non-invasive health interventions such as oxygen therapy, ostomy care, and skin care under appropriate supervision.

Assist with meal preparation, tray delivery, feeding, and documentation of food intake; ensure safe and sanitary food handling and respond to dietary needs/preferences as directed. Provide sensitive support during palliative care and following client death, including room preparation, documentation, and coordination of belongings in accordance with procedures. Accurately complete all required documentation in a timely manner,



including care records, assessments (e.g., contribute to care planning and interdisciplinary communication as directed.

Actively participate in shift handovers, staff meetings, and care conferences; Promote social interaction, emotional support, and spiritual well-being through compassionate engagement; Follow all occupational health and safety policies, infection control protocols, and facility standards to ensure the safety of clients, staff, and the care environment.

Ministry

Unit leadership, staff, and volunteers.

External: guests/clients of ministry unit in person. Financial and Materials Management May be involved in minor financial transactions on a regular or relief basis and is expected to exercise sound judgment in the use of organizational and personal resources. May be authorized to handle small amounts of cash, including disbursements and collections.

Work is primarily performed indoors, in the office or clients’ rooms, shared living areas, and medication areas. within a ministry unit or facility. This role may require shift work, work over weekends, statutory holidays and extended hours. Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent plus a Health Care Aide or Personal Care Attendant Course required (or other provincial regulations).

Certification in First Aid and CPR. Work in compliance with OH&S; Act and Regulations and abide by The Salvation Army’s health and safety policies and procedures.
