LeverageTek is actively seeking a Data Architect for a 2-month contract with its Ottawa-based customer.

Work Location The successful candidate will work fully remote. Eastern Standard Time (EST) hours are required.

Key Tasks

- Lead technical and business readiness assessment including current-state constraints, target-state capabilities, dependencies, risks, assumptions, and recommended sequencing
- Validate the existing solution architecture and identify gaps and weaknesses
- Produce solution architecture documentation covering logical and physical architecture, data ingestion, medallion layers, data products, semantic consumption, metadata, lineage, security, privacy, monitoring, and cost management
- Define data modeling and interoperability standards including use of Microsoft Common Data Model concepts, canonical models, keys, reference data, and conformed entities
- Define integration patterns for batch, incremental, CDC, API, and file-based ingestion including decision criteria and non-functional requirements
- Work directly and hands-on with the data engineering team throughout the engagement
- Prepare blueprinting materials and templates for handoff

Key Qualifications

- 10+ years in data architecture, including 5+ years designing cloud data platforms or Lakehouses
- Robust, hands-on experience with Azure Databricks, Unity Catalog,



and Medallion architecture / Delta Lake
- Demonstrated experience designing and delivering data Lakehouse solutions (not data warehouses only)

Qualifications

- Experience with Master Data Management (MDM)
- Familiarity with Microsoft Fabric, Power BI consumption patterns, and Microsoft Purview
- Experience with architecture modelling and documentation tools
- Large enterprise or complex organizational experience preferred
- Regulated sector or nonprofit data environment experience is an asset
- Consulting background with demonstrated build-and-transition delivery is acceptable

Compensation

Hourly Rate Negotiable
