Associate Dentist – Comprehensive & Advanced Dentistry
Markham Dental | Markham, Ontario
Are You Looking for More Than “Drill-and-Fill” Dentistry?
Markham Dental is looking for an Associate Dentist who wants more from their career than simply treating one tooth at a time.
We are seeking a clinician who believes exceptional dentistry begins with understanding the whole patient—their oral health, function, occlusion, esthetics, airway, sleep, habits, and long-term wellness.
This opportunity is designed for a dentist who wants to continue evolving clinically, professionally, and as a leader.
If you value comprehensive diagnosis, interdisciplinary treatment planning, Invisalign, digital dentistry, patient education, leadership, and measurable performance, we would like to meet you.
About Markham Dental
Markham Dental – General and Cosmetic Dentistry is a progressive, comprehensive dental practice built around a philosophy of diagnosis before treatment.
Our approach extends beyond traditional general dentistry.
We believe the mouth should not be treated independently from the rest of the body. Our clinicians are encouraged to understand the relationships between dentition, periodontal health, occlusion, TMJ function, airway, sleep, breathing, orthodontics, esthetics, and overall patient wellness.
Our services and clinical interests include:
- Comprehensive restorative dentistry
- Cosmetic dentistry
- Invisalign and orthodontic treatment
- Implant and surgical dentistry
- Digital dentistry
- TMJ and occlusal therapy
- Airway and sleep dentistry
- Orofacial myofunctional therapy
- Preventive and periodontal care
- Interdisciplinary treatment planning
We are looking for an Associate Dentist who wants to contribute to—and continue developing within—this model of care. The Dentist We Are Looking ForYou Want More Than Drill-and-Fill Dentistry
You understand that dentistry is more than diagnosing decay and restoring individual teeth.
You want to understand why disease is occurring, how the patient's dentition is functioning as a system, and what can be done to improve their long-term health.
You enjoy comprehensive examinations, diagnosis, treatment planning, patient education, and building long-term relationships.
You want to become the dentist patients trust to help them understand the bigger picture of their oral health.
You Value Comprehensive Diagnosis
We are looking for someone who wants to develop a deeper diagnostic mindset.
That includes evaluating
- Periodontal health
- Caries risk
- Occlusion
- Tooth wear
- TMJ function
- Orthodontic relationships
- Facial and smile esthetics
- Missing teeth and restorative needs
- Airway and sleep risk factors
- Parafunction and bruxism
- Long-term structural stability
You should be comfortable collaborating with hygienists and other clinicians through a co-diagnosis model, where the entire team participates in identifying patient needs and educating patients about their health. Invisalign Is an Important Part of Our Practice
We are particularly interested in an established Invisalign provider with Gold status or higher.
However, we will also consider a highly motivated dentist who has not yet reached this level but is genuinely committed to developing Invisalign as a meaningful part of their clinical practice.
The successful candidate should be willing to:
- Identify appropriate Invisalign candidates
- Incorporate orthodontic evaluation into comprehensive diagnosis
- Confidently discuss Airway Management and Invisalign with patients
- Develop case selection and treatment planning skills
- Utilize digital scanning and iTero workflows
- Participate in continuing education
- Set and work toward measurable Invisalign case-start goals
We are looking for someone who sees Invisalign as more than an elective add-on—it can be an important component of restorative, functional, periodontal, esthetic, and comprehensive treatment planning. You Believe Dentistry Is a Team Sport
Our ideal Associate does not practice in isolation.
You will work collaboratively with:
- Dental hygienists
- Dental assistants
- Treatment coordinators
- Myofunctional therapists
- Administrative team members
- Other dentists and specialists
We value clinicians who respect every member of the team and understand that excellent patient care depends on solid communication between the clinical and administrative sides of the practice. You should be comfortable discussing cases, asking for input, mentoring team members, and participating in collaborative treatment planning.
You Have Leadership Potential
We are looking for more than clinical ability.
We want someone who demonstrates ownership, accountability, professionalism, and leadership.
Leadership in our practice means:
- Setting a strong clinical standard
- Communicating clearly with the team
- Taking ownership of patient outcomes
- Being prepared for the clinical day
- Following through on treatment
- Supporting and educating team members
- Remaining open to feedback and coaching
- Continuously improving clinically and professionally
- Contributing ideas rather than simply identifying problems
- Helping create a positive, high-performance culture
You do not necessarily need to have held a formal leadership title. We are interested in someone who naturally thinks and behaves like a leader.
You Understand the Business of Dentistry
Exceptional patient care and a healthy dental practice are not competing priorities.
We believe clinicians should understand the measurable outcomes of their practice.
Our Associate Dentist should be comfortable reviewing and discussing KPIs and performance data, including:
- Clinical production
- Production per clinical day
- Treatment diagnosed
- Treatment acceptance
- Treatment scheduled
- Invisalign consultations and case starts
- New patient conversion
- Hygiene-to-doctor case identification
- Unscheduled treatment
- Chair utilization
- Clinical efficiency
- Procedure mix
- Patient retention and continuity of care
KPIs are not intended to replace clinical judgment. They help us understand whether patients are receiving recommended care, where opportunities are being missed, and where the clinician and team can improve.
We are looking for a dentist who is curious about their numbers and motivated to improve them.
Qualifications The ideal candidate will:
- Be licensed and in good standing with the Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario
- Graduated from Canada or US
- Have strong general dentistry and restorative skills
- Demonstrate a comprehensive diagnostic mindset
- Have excellent patient communication and case-presentation skills
- Be comfortable working within a collaborative team
- Demonstrate professionalism, accountability, and leadership potential
- Be comfortable with digital dentistry and technology
- Be willing to participate in continuing education and advanced clinical development
- Understand and value clinical KPIs and practice performance
- Have an interest in expanding beyond conventional general dentistry
Invisalign Gold Provider status or higher is strongly preferred. Dentists who have not yet achieved Gold status may still be considered if they demonstrate a strong commitment to developing their Invisalign skills and case volume.
Experience or continuing education in comprehensive dentistry, occlusion, cosmetic dentistry, implant dentistry, Invisalign, TMJ, airway/sleep dentistry, or interdisciplinary treatment planning will be highly valued.
What We Offer
- Established and growing patient base
- Strong hygiene-driven co-diagnosis model
- Comprehensive treatment opportunities
- iTero and digital workflows
- Established Invisalign program
- Exposure to airway, sleep, TMJ, and myofunctional therapy
- Collaborative clinical team
- Treatment coordination support
- Opportunity for advanced continuing education
- Clinical mentorship and case discussion
- KPI and performance reporting to support professional growth
- Opportunity to expand your procedure mix
- Leadership development opportunities
- Long-term opportunity to grow within a progressive dental organization
Who Will Thrive at Markham Dental? This opportunity will appeal to a dentist who thinks:
“I don't want to spend the next 20 years simply doing fillings and crowns.”
You want to become a stronger diagnostician.
You want to understand occlusion, orthodontics, airway, function, esthetics, and comprehensive treatment planning.
You want to become confident presenting larger and more complex treatment plans.
You want to work with a hygiene team that actively participates in co-diagnosis.
You want to understand your numbers and continuously improve your clinical performance.
You want to work alongside people who take dentistry seriously and expect excellence from themselves.
And ultimately, you want to evolve from being someone who performs dental procedures into a clinician who comprehensively diagnoses, treatment plans, leads, and positively influences a patient's long-term health.
