The Operations Officer is responsible for the accurate and timely execution of day-to-day banking operations while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, internal controls, and service standards. The role supports customer account administration, transaction processing, reconciliations, record maintenance, regulatory reporting, and risk management activities. The incumbent works closely with customers and internal stakeholders to resolve operational issues and contributes to system enhancements and continuous process improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process corporate deposit account activities, including transaction requests, incoming and outgoing cheque clearing, cashier's orders, certified cheques, BAI file processing, account sweeps, term deposits, and account servicing requests.
- Maintain customer accounts, including account opening, closure, maintenance, and documentation validation.
- Prepare client documentation, including account statements, transaction confirmations, and required reports.
- Perform end-of-day verification, account reconciliations, and transaction balancing activities; investigate and resolve discrepancies, exceptions, and outstanding items.
- Prepare daily and monthly operational reports and key performance indicators (KPIs) for management.
- Complete quality assurance reviews to ensure compliance with AML, risk management, and regulatory reporting requirements.
- Prepare and submit reports in accordance with CDIC, FINTRAC, and other regulatory requirements.
- Participate in process improvement initiatives, User Acceptance Testing (UAT), and operational change projects.
- Communicate effectively with customers and internal stakeholders to resolve operational inquiries and transaction-related issues. Support the development and maintenance of operational procedures while promoting a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence.
Qualifications:
- The ideal candidate should have minimum 1 year's experience in Accounting or Banking and Finance.
- Strong Leadership and analytical skills
- A strong communications skill, pleasant telephone manners, is able to speak to all levels within the organization and to a diverse group of stakeholders.
- Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft’s Access,Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook.
- An ability to work well with others and understand customers’ needs.
- An ability to work in a fast paced environment. A quick learner and attention to details
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business or Banking and Finance courses, or a closely-related discipline, or an equivalent combination of formal education and experience
