Contract Opportunity

Location: Stouffville, ON (Primarily On-Site)

Our client, a growing operations-driven organization, is seeking an experienced finance leader to oversee job costing, project profitability, revenue performance, and operational financial controls. This is a hands-on leadership role reporting directly to senior leadership and working closely with finance, sales, operations, and billing teams to drive accountability, margins, and business performance.

This opportunity is ideal for a senior finance qualified who thrives in a dynamic environment where operational execution, costing accuracy, revenue oversight, and financial discipline are critical to success.

This role will require understanding of project-based finance/accounting from transportation, logistics or construction industry with background in job costing, project costing, operational finance, or profitability analysis.

Key Responsibilities

Job Costing & Profitability Management

- Develop, maintain, and enhance job costing and project costing methodologies.
- Monitor actual costs against estimates and investigate variances by project, customer, and service line.
- Ensure labour, equipment, subcontractor, and material costs are accurately captured and allocated.
- Drive accountability around project scope, cost control, and margin performance.
- Support pricing, quoting, and bidding decisions through profitability analysis and financial insights.
- Oversee change management processes related to project scope and pricing adjustments.

Revenue & Sales Performance Oversight

- Partner with sales leadership to monitor revenue performance,



pipeline activity, forecasts, and profitability.
- Review pricing strategies to balance competitiveness and margin protection.
- Ensure accurate and timely revenue recognition.
- Prepare revenue forecasts and performance reporting for leadership.
- Support ongoing revenue growth initiatives through analytics and decision support.

Billing, Accounts Receivable & Financial Controls

- Oversee invoicing processes to ensure timely and accurate billing.
- Monitor accounts receivable aging and support collection efforts.
- Resolve billing discrepancies and customer-related financial issues.
- Strengthen billing procedures and internal controls.

Accounting & Reporting

- Review bank reconciliations, general ledger activity, accruals, and month-end entries.
- Support month-end and year-end close processes.
- Prepare financial reporting packages focused on profitability, revenue performance, cash flow, and operational metrics.
- Identify opportunities to improve processes, controls, reporting, and financial efficiency.

Leadership

- Lead and mentor cross-functional team members across finance, billing, sales support, and operations.
- Act as a strategic business partner to operational and executive leadership.




- Drive collaboration between finance and operations to improve decision-making and profitability.

Qualifications

- CPA designation preferred.
- 7+ years of progressive finance and accounting experience, including leadership responsibilities.
- Strong background in job costing, project costing, operational finance, or profitability analysis.
- Experience within transportation, logistics, construction, industrial services, manufacturing, or other project-based environments is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated success partnering with operations and commercial teams to drive accountability and financial performance.
- Hands-on experience with month-end close, general ledger, reconciliations, billing, and financial reporting.
- Experience overseeing accounts receivable and revenue management processes.
- Advanced Excel skills and proficiency with accounting systems such as Sage, QuickBooks, or comparable ERP platforms.
- Strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills with the ability to influence stakeholders across multiple functions.
