Director of Finance and Accounting

Large Manufacturing Company | Edmonton, Alberta

Work arrangement: 100% onsite A large manufacturing company is seeking a Director of Finance and Accounting to lead an accounting team of 16 professionals and provide financial guidance to support business performance. This role oversees accounting operations, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, internal controls, and cash management while partnering closely with senior leadership and operational teams.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead, mentor, and develop an accounting team of 16 professionals.
- Lead monthly and annual financial close processes and oversee accurate financial statements, reconciliations, and management reporting.
- Lead budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis,



and cash flow planning.
- Oversee manufacturing cost accounting, inventory valuation, fixed assets, and capital project accounting.
- Maintain effective internal controls and ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, tax requirements, and company policies.
- Coordinate audits and implement recommendations and corrective actions.
- Provide financial insights to support operational improvements, capital investments, and strategic decisions.
- Improve financial systems, reporting processes, and automation.

Must Haves

- University bachelor’s degree in Business or Commerce with a major in Accounting.
- CPA designation.
- CMA designation.
- Minimum 10 years of Canadian finance and accounting experience.
- Demonstrated experience leading and developing a sizable accounting team.
- Strong knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, internal controls, and audit processes.
- Manufacturing or comparable operational experience, including cost accounting and inventory valuation.
- ERP proficiency and advanced Excel skills.
- Solid analytical, communication, and business partnering skills.
- Ability to work 100% onsite in Edmonton.

- MBA.
- Experience within a large manufacturing organization.
- Microsoft Dynamics 365 experience.
- Experience with ERP implementations, reporting automation, and process improvements.
- Experience with intercompany accounting, major capital projects, and strategic financial modelling.
