Position Title: Driver and Warehouse Support
Reports to: Warehouse Manager / Operations Manager

Our Vision: To meet the emergency food needs for all people in Northwestern Ontario the RFDA works to secure and distribute donated food supplies equitably to community food banks and feeding programs across the region. We teach, educate, and work with community partners to help end hunger and poverty in our region.
Position Summary: The Driver and Warehouse Support position safely transports food and related products for the RFDA while supporting efficient warehouse operations. The position completes scheduled retail food-recovery pickups, emergency hamper deliveries, member-agency deliveries and other assigned transportation work using the RFDA refrigerated van. When not driving, the employee supports receiving, order preparation, product movement, sanitation and other warehouse activities.
The employee represents RFDA directly in the community and is expected to provide dependable, respectful and professional service.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Driving and delivery: Complete scheduled pickups and deliveries, operating safely and in compliance with all laws, policies and insurance requirements. Safely load, secure, transport, and unload food, protecting product condition and preventing damage or loss. Prepare and submit documentation as required, including proof of pre-trip inspection. Report any defects, warning lights, damage or mechanical concerns immediately. Maintain cold-chain conditions throughout delivery. Keep vehicle clean.
2. Client and Donor Service: Treat all with dignity, patience and respect. Protect client confidentiality and do not disclose names, addresses, circumstances or other personal information except as required for authorized work.
Follow safe-delivery procedures and maintain appropriate professional boundaries when attending residences or interacting with members of the public. Represent RFDA professionally through punctuality, appropriate conduct, clean presentation and responsive communication. Report complaints, incidents, unsafe circumstances, refused products or service concerns promptly to the Warehouse Manager.

Warehouse
Support: Load and unload vehicles, including palletized and manually handled products. Receive food and related products and assist with inspection, weighing, documentation, storage and placement as directed. Pick, stage and verify member-agency orders and prepare products and paperwork for scheduled deliveries. Use scanners and the inventory and order-management system as trained to record receiving, picking and product movement. Safely operate assigned material-handling equipment when trained and authorized. Sort food donations and assist with food-processing activities when assigned and appropriately trained. Maintain clean and orderly warehouse, cooler, freezer, loading and vehicle areas and follow sanitation schedules and procedures. Assist with physical inventory counts, product rotation, relabelling, consolidation and other warehouse tasks.
Assisting with special events at the RFDA or off-site, including: set-up, teardown, driving, being a hands-on representative, as required;
Attend all relevant staff/departmental meetings. Work within departmental budget allocations;
Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- Valid G licence
- Current Drivers abstract
- Warehouse experience is an asset
- Communication skills
- Ability to drive safely in varying weather, traffic and road conditions and to locate residences, retailers and agency locations.
- Reliable attendance and availability for a variable schedule that includes weekends.
- Ability to provide respectful service to people from diverse backgrounds and circumstances while maintaining confidentiality and professional boundaries.
- Ability to read delivery instructions, complete records and use mobile, scanning and inventory technology as trained.
Assets:
- DZ Licence
- Forklift operator certification, Protected Food Handling certification and First Aid and CPR certification
- Experience in delivery driving, food recovery, warehousing, distribution, customer service and/or community service.
Physical and Working Conditions
- Ability to repeatedly lift and move loads weighing up to 50 pounds using safe lifting techniques and appropriate equipment.
- Ability to push and pull loaded carts or pallet-handling equipment and to stand, walk, bend, reach and enter and exit a vehicle repeatedly.
- Ability to work safely in refrigerated and freezer environments, loading areas, warehouses and varying outdoor weather conditions.
- Work may involve contact with members of the public at residences and other community locations.
- A satisfactory police records check and driver's abstract are required as conditions of employment.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent Pay: $22.00-$24.00 per hour
