About Us

Little Cubs Learning Centre is growing!

We are excited to be opening a brand-new Before & After School Program at Brookside Public School in January 2027, and we are looking for passionate ECEs/RECEs and ECAs who want to help us build this new program from the beginning.

Little Cubs is a Reggio Emilia-inspired centre grounded in Ontario's pedagogy How Does Learning Happen? (HDLH). We believe children are capable, competent and full of potential, educators are valued professionals, and relationships are at the heart of everything we do.

Successful candidates will complete training and onboarding at our Port Elgin or Teeswater location prior to January 2027, providing an opportunity to experience Little Cubs in action and become familiar with our philosophy, expectations and approach before the Brookside program opens.

What You'll Do As an ECE or ECA in our Before & After School Program, you will:
- Create engaging,



child-led experiences based on children's interests, ideas and curiosities.
- Help create an inviting Reggio-inspired school-age environment where children can explore, create, socialize and unwind outside of their school day.
- Build positive and respectful relationships with children, families and colleagues.
- Plan and facilitate age-appropriate activities and experiences.
- Support children's social and emotional development through positive, responsive approaches.
- Participate in observations, reflection and pedagogical documentation.
- Maintain a safe, inclusive, organized and engaging environment.
- Collaborate with your team to continuously strengthen the program.
- Maintain compliance with CCEYA, licensing and health and safety requirements.

Who We're Looking For We welcome applicants who are:
- RECEs registered and in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators.
- ECE students currently completing their education.
- Early Childhood Assistants (ECAs) with experience or a strong interest in working with children.
- Passionate about working with school-age children.
- Interested in Reggio Emilia-inspired, child-led and inquiry-based learning.
- Dependable and able to consistently work a before and after school split shift.
- Positive,



collaborative and comfortable working as part of a team.
- Professional, reliable and committed to creating a welcoming environment for children and families.

Schedule This is a Monday to Friday split-shift position, working approximately 25–30 hours per week.

Hours will primarily take place before school and after school, and applicants must be available for both portions of the split shift.

Additional hours may be available during PA Days, school breaks and camps.

Training & Start Date

Our Brookside Public School program is scheduled to open in January 2027.

Successful candidates will complete training and onboarding at one of our existing Little Cubs locations in Port Elgin or Teeswater prior to the Brookside opening.

You'll have the chance to learn our Reggio-inspired approach, work alongside experienced Little Cubs educators and get to know our culture before launching the new Brookside program together.

Wages

ECA / Non-RECE: $21.00–$23.00/hour, including applicable government grants

RECE: $25.86–$27.86/hour, including applicable government grants
