Current Toronto Electric is a growing electrical contractor providing residential and commercial electrical services throughout Toronto and the GTA.
We are looking for an experienced Electrical Foreman / Licensed 309A Journeyman Electrician to join our team.
Strong residential experience and excellent customer service skills are essential for this position.
Our electricians work directly with customers in their homes and businesses, so we're looking for someone who not only produces high-quality electrical work but is skilled, dependable, organized, and comfortable communicating with customers.

New Toronto Electric is a growing electrical contractor serving residential and commercial clients throughout Toronto and the GTA.
We are looking for an experienced 309A Journeyperson Electrician / Electrical Foreman who is confident working independently, troubleshooting electrical systems, dealing directly with customers and leading jobs from start to finish.
This is not an entry-level position. Strong residential and commercial experience is required, including hands-on experience with commercial motors, controls, disconnects and VFDs.
Residential Responsibilities
- Residential service calls and electrical troubleshooting
- 100A and 200A service upgrades
- Electrical panel replacements and upgrades
- Residential renovations and additions
- Knob-and-tube removal and complete house rewires
- EV charger installations
- Lighting, receptacles, switches and dedicated circuits
- Electrical repairs and emergency service work
- Diagnose electrical faults independently
- Read drawings and plan electrical installations
- Coordinate materials and requirements for jobs
Commercial Responsibilities
- Commercial service calls, renovations and electrical installations
- Commercial motor installation and troubleshooting
- Motor controls and control wiring
- VFD installation, setup and troubleshooting
- Disconnect switches and safety switches
- Motor starters, contactors, relays and control circuits
- Three-phase electrical systems and equipment
- Commercial panels and electrical distribution
- EMT conduit installation, bending and layout
- Commercial lighting and lighting controls
- Troubleshoot commercial electrical equipment and systems
- Read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics and control diagrams
Foreman & General Responsibilities
- Take responsibility for jobs from start to completion
- Lead and supervise apprentices and other electricians when required
- Plan electrical installations and determine material requirements
- Coordinate materials for upcoming jobs
- Maintain clean, safe and organized job sites
- Maintain a high standard of workmanship
- Communicate professionally with homeowners, property managers, contractors and commercial clients
- Explain electrical issues and recommended repairs clearly to customers
- Ensure installations comply with the Ontario Electrical Safety Code and applicable requirements
- Follow company safety procedures and industry best practices
- Represent New Toronto Electric professionally while on customer properties
Required Qualifications
- Valid Ontario 309A Construction & Maintenance Electrician Licence
- Strong residential electrical experience
- Strong commercial electrical experience
- Experience with motors, motor controls, VFDs and disconnects is a must
- Strong electrical troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
- Experience with three-phase electrical systems
- Ability to read electrical drawings and schematics
- Strong knowledge of the Ontario Electrical Safety Code
- Ability to work independently without constant supervision
- Ability to supervise and direct apprentices when required
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Professional appearance and attitude
- Reliable and punctual
- Valid Ontario driver's licence
- Must have own reliable transportation
- Two professional references required
Compensation $50/hour + 10% vacation pay
This equates to $55/hour including vacation pay.
Tools provided.
Probationary Period The first one (1) month of employment will be considered a probationary period.
During this period, we will assess workmanship, productivity, reliability, punctuality, safety, customer service, communication, technical ability and overall suitability for the position.
Continuation of employment will be determined based on performance and suitability for the role, subject to applicable Ontario employment standards.
What We're Looking For
We are looking for someone who can be trusted to take a service call or project, assess the work required, troubleshoot problems, communicate professionally with the customer and complete the installation to a high standard.
The ideal candidate is equally comfortable troubleshooting a residential electrical problem as they are working with commercial motors, controls, VFDs and three-phase equipment.

Requirements
- Valid Ontario 309A Construction & Maintenance Electrician Licence
- Minimum 5 years of electrical experience preferred
- Strong residential experience is required
- Commercial experience is an asset
- Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic abilities
- Thorough understanding of the Ontario Electrical Safety Code
- Experience completing service upgrades and panel replacements
- Able to work independently and take ownership of jobs
- Experience supervising or working with apprentices is an asset
- Excellent workmanship and attention to detail
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- Professional appearance and attitude
- Reliable and punctual
- Valid Ontario driver's licence
- Must have own reliable transportation to job sites
- Able to work throughout Toronto and the GTA
Compensation $40.00–$50.00/hour, depending on experience and ability.
10% vacation pay in addition to hourly wages.
Overtime will be paid in accordance with applicable Ontario employment standards.

Probationary Period The Employee's first one month of employment will be considered a probationary period. During the probationary period, New Toronto Electric will assess the Employee's suitability for the position, including workmanship, productivity, reliability, punctuality, safety practices, customer service, communication skills, ability to work independently, and overall performance.
During the probationary period, employment may be terminated if the Employee is determined not to be suitable for the position, subject at all times to the minimum requirements of the Employment Standards Act, 2000

You should be comfortable arriving at a customer's property, assessing the electrical work, troubleshooting problems, explaining the work professionally to the customer, completing the installation correctly, and leaving the job site clean and organized.
