Classification Summary - Union The overall objective of this program is to assist employees with partial or full tuition funding for roles that the city has identified require support for future recruitment. The role must be identified as part of an overall career plan for the employee. Requests can be employee or employer driven.

1. One year of service as a permanent full-time or part-time employee.
2. Performance is meeting expectations.
3. Career path interest has been identified with Supervisor and may have been documented in most recent performance review.

Special Instructions to Applicant
Applications are currently being accepted until October 31, 2026, for course work that will be completed between January and June 2027.
All applicants must include information in the online application including:
- Course provider, course name and detailed costs
- How course work aligns with career path and organizational direction
- Long term education goals
- Any related travel costs and leave time needed
Required documents: An outline of course information and costs from the educational provider that includes a detailed cost breakdown showing tuition, books, and administration fees (if applicable) and a breakdown of estimated travel costs. Course information and travel costs can be submitted under Staff Scholarship Application Education Information. Detailed screen shots or PDFs from websites are acceptable and must include educational provider name for verification purposes.
NEW Applicants must submit a minimum of one internal leadership reference letter in support of your application.
- Returning applicants that have not applied for funding in more than 2 years must also submit reference letters. These can be uploaded under the Optional Documents section.
