We are seeking a skilled estimator/drafter to join our team. You will be responsible for reviewing customer drawings and specifications, preparing accurate estimates and quotations, and creating detailed fabrication drawings and cut lists for production.

The ideal candidate will have robust technical drawing interpretation skills, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to accurately assess material, labour, subcontracting, and fabrication requirements. Experience with drafting, estimating, steel fabrication, or a related industry is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

Estimating

- Review RFQs, drawings, specifications, and other project documentation to determine scope of work
- Prepare accurate estimates and quotations based on project requirements
- Perform material take-offs and determine material requirements
- Estimate labour hours required for various fabrication processes
- Obtain and review pricing for materials, subcontracted services, and other project requirements
- Identify scope gaps, discrepancies, or unclear information and request clarification when required
- Revise and update estimates as project information or requirements change
- Maintain organized estimating records, quote documentation, and supporting information
- Collaborate with customers, vendors, production staff, and other team members to ensure estimates accurately reflect project requirements

Drafting

- Create detailed 2D fabrication and shop drawings
- Create and QC cut lists to ensure they meet job requirements
- Review and interpret technical drawings, specifications, sketches,



and customer requirements
- Make necessary drawing revisions as required
- Ensure drawings accurately reflect project scope and fabrication requirements
- Maintain organized records of drawings, revisions, and project documentation
- Work with estimating, production, quality, and project personnel to resolve drawing or fabrication questions
- Ensure drawings comply with applicable industry standards, customer specifications, and internal requirements

Software

- AutoCAD
- BlueBeam
- Microsoft Office

Qualifications

- Experience in estimating, drafting, steel fabrication, manufacturing, or a similar technical role is an asset
- Diploma in Engineering Design Technology, Drafting Technology, or a related field is an asset
- Strong proficiency in AutoCAD
- Strong understanding of drafting techniques and principles
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and project documentation
- Ability to perform material take-offs and develop accurate project estimates
- Strong mathematical and analytical skills
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Ability to manage multiple quotes and projects with competing deadlines
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to collaborate effectively with customers, vendors, production staff, and other team members

Pay: $26.00-$30.00 per hour
