Full-time, Permanent The Red Deer City Soccer Association (RDCSA) is seeking an accomplished, cooperative leader to serve as its Executive Director and guide the continued development and sustainability of community soccer in Red Deer and the surrounding area.

RDCSA is a well-established, community-based, not-for-profit organization that provides a variety of recreational soccer programming and competitive programming through the Red Deer Renegades Soccer Club in Red Deer and the surrounding area, with an annual operating budget of approximately $1.2 million. Working with a volunteer Board of Directors and leading RDCSA’s employees and contractors, the Executive Director will provide organizational leadership and ensure RDCSA has the people, systems and partnerships needed to deliver high-quality programs and services.

This is an opportunity for a leader who can strengthen organizational management, build productive relationships, lead change and translate strategic direction into measurable results for RDCSA and the community it serves.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director is RDCSA’s senior staff leader, with overall accountability for the Association’s operations, administration and implementation of Board-approved strategic direction.

The successful candidate will lead RDCSA’s operations and work closely with the Board to advance the Association’s strategic priorities. The role will focus on strengthening systems and accountability, developing staff and organizational capacity, building productive external relationships, and identifying opportunities that support the continued growth and sustainability of soccer in the community.

The Executive Director will foster a strong governance partnership with the Board, maintaining an appropriate distinction between governance and operations while ensuring the Board has the information and organizational visibility required to fulfill its responsibilities. The Executive Director will provide organization-wide leadership while remaining connected to RDCSA’s day-to-day operations.

As the Association’s senior staff leader, the Executive Director will take a pragmatic approach, contributing directly to administrative and operational work when needed while ensuring responsibilities are appropriately delegated and employees and contractors are empowered to perform their roles effectively.

Key Responsibilities The Executive Director will:

· Provide overall executive leadership for RDCSA, fostering a collaborative, accountable and healthy organization aligned with the strategic direction established by the Board.

· Translate Board-approved strategic direction into operational plans, priorities and measurable results.





· Ensure effective delivery and administration of RDCSA’s recreational and competitive soccer programs and services, providing leadership and direct involvement where appropriate.

· Provide the Board with timely, accurate and meaningful information required for effective governance, oversight and decision-making.

· Oversee RDCSA’s financial management, budgeting, reporting, administrative systems, internal controls and organizational compliance, contributing directly to these functions where appropriate.

· Lead RDCSA’s employees and contractors, establishing clear responsibilities, expectations and accountability while developing organizational capacity and ensuring work is appropriately delegated.

· Strengthen organizational resilience by ensuring key processes, records, systems, authorities and institutional knowledge are appropriately documented and shared.

· Build productive relationships with members, Alberta Soccer Association, community organizations, educational institutions, facility partners, municipalities, sponsors and other stakeholders.

· Develop and implement strategies to strengthen RDCSA’s financial sustainability, including sponsorship, partnerships, grants and other revenue opportunities.

· Ensure effective communication and engagement with members and other key stakeholders, while helping the Board evaluate emerging opportunities, risks and changes affecting community sport and soccer.

The Candidate

RDCSA is seeking a leader who can manage day-to-day operations effectively while maintaining the broader perspective needed to strengthen and develop the organization.

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

· Progressively responsible leadership and management experience in a not-for-profit, sport, public-sector, private-sector or comparable organization.

· Strong people leadership skills and experience building effective teams, developing others and managing organizational change.

· Strong judgment, initiative, problem-solving ability and the capacity to manage competing priorities.

· Experience working effectively with a Board, governing body or senior leadership group.

· Strong financial, administrative and organizational management skills.

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to build productive relationships with diverse internal and external stakeholders.

· A collaborative leadership style combined with a willingness to make decisions,



establish accountability and lead through change.

· A commitment to inclusive, respectful and participant-centred community sport.

Post-secondary education in business, management, sport administration, public administration, nonprofit leadership or a related field is considered an asset. An equivalent combination of education and relevant leadership experience will also be considered.

Experience in community sport, soccer administration, Safe Sport, sponsorship, grant development or not-for-profit governance would be considered an asset.

Previous experience in soccer is not required. RDCSA welcomes candidates from sport and non-sport backgrounds who bring the leadership, management and organizational development capabilities required to lead a modern community sport organization.
