Overview
Reporting to the Controller, the Finance Manager is the day-to-day finance lead for SureLine Projects Inc. and a key member of the Finance Team. The role is accountable for accurate and timely financial reporting, full-cycle accounting, cash flow management, budgeting, forecasting, internal controls, and the leadership and development of finance and administrative team members. Working closely with operations and project teams, the Finance Manager provides practical financial insight, strengthens financial discipline, and leads process and system improvements that support effective decision-making and sustainable business performance.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Financial Reporting, Planning & Analysis
- Deliver accurate and timely monthly financial statements, management reports, and supporting analysis.
- Lead and coordinate month-end and year-end close processes, including annual financial reporting and working with external accountants.
- Prepare and maintain annual budgets, forecasts, cash flow forecasts, and variance analysis.
- Analyze costs, revenues, margins, expenses, and project or division performance against budget and forecast.
Leadership & Team Development
- Lead, mentor, and develop team members supporting accounts receivable, accounts payable, purchasing, payroll, and related administrative functions.
- Establish clear performance expectations and provide regular feedback.
- Lead change management initiatives and support the adoption of new processes, systems, and ways of working.
- Serve as the primary escalation point for finance and administrative matters.
- Support workforce planning and hiring, cross-train and backfill other finance roles as required.

Operational Support
- Build robust working relationships with operations, project teams, and other business partners.
- Lead financial discussions with project managers and operational leaders regarding project profitability.
- Support strategic decision-making by identifying opportunities to improve financial performance and operational effectiveness.
- Promote financial accountability throughout the organization through education, communication, and partnership.
Project Billing & Working Capital
- Oversee project costing, including work-in-progress calculations, revenue recognition, project billing.
- Monitor and report on project profitability, cost performance, and financial trends.
- Partner with project managers and operational leaders to improve project cost visibility and strengthen financial decision-making.
- Monitor collections and receivables and improve billing and collection processes.
Process Improvement, Controls & Risk Management
- Identify, develop, and strengthen financial policies, internal controls and related procedures.
- Design, implement, and document processes, procedures, and standard operating practices aligned with Group accounting policies.
- Improve the use of Explorer, Aimsio, and other reporting tools, and support system enhancements and process automation.
- Knowledge of accounting standards and tax requirements.
- Maintain audit readiness and coordinate information required for external audits.
- Identify and communicate financial and operational risks.
- Maintain confidentiality and protect sensitive financial, payroll, and employee information.
Note: In addition to the above, the Finance Manager may be required to perform other duties as reasonably necessary to support the objectives of the company.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum five years of progressive accounting experience at a Senior Accountant level or in a comparable role.
- Demonstrated full-cycle accounting experience, including month-end and year-end close, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
- Strong knowledge of Accounting Standards for Private Enterprises (ASPE), internal controls, and applicable tax requirements.
- Experience with project accounting, job costing, work-in-progress, revenue recognition, billing, and project profitability analysis.
- People leadership experience; payroll knowledge is an asset.
- Experience with Explorer, Aimsio, or comparable construction, project accounting, and reporting systems is an asset.

- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, manage competing priorities, and meet fixed deadlines with limited structure or direction.
- Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, and an interest in using technology to improve efficiency and accuracy.
WORKING CONDITIONS This position is based in our Fort St John Office. Extended work hours may be required to meet fixed reporting deadlines. The position may involve visits to project sites.
BENEFITS The expected salary range for this position is $115,000 – $130,000 annually, commensurate with experience, education, and skills. In addition, we provide a comprehensive benefits package including extended health, dental, life and disability insurance, RRSP matching, and paid time off.
Pay: $115,000.00-$130,000.00 per year
