Sunny Hobbies is looking for a part-time Front End team member with strong current knowledge of the Pokémon Trading Card Game.

This is an in-person retail position focused on customer service, sales, daily store operations, and tournament/event support. The successful candidate should be comfortable working independently, interacting with customers of all experience levels, handling collectible products carefully, and staying productive during both busy and slower periods.

Responsibilities include:

- Greeting customers and providing friendly, professional customer service
- Answering questions and providing recommendations regarding Pokémon products, singles, sealed products, accessories, grading services, and upcoming releases
- Processing purchases, customer pickups, and other point-of-sale transactions accurately
- Pulling and verifying daily online and in-store pickup orders
- Receiving customer trade-ins, buylists, and grading submissions according to store procedures
- Supporting and eventually being able to independently assist with Pokémon tournaments and weekly local events, including registration, setup, player communication, pairings, prize distribution, and general event management
- Restocking products and maintaining organized shelves, showcases, binders, and customer-facing areas
- Monitoring product availability and notifying the team of low-stock, misplaced, or sold-out items
- Assisting with general store operations and completing assigned tasks without requiring constant supervision
- Following store procedures carefully and communicating mistakes, unusual situations, or customer concerns promptly
- Helping maintain a welcoming and professional environment for both regular customers and recent players

This position is primarily scheduled during afternoon/evening hours and weekends. Regular weekend availability, particularly Sundays,



is important for this role due to Pokémon events.

Full-time opportunities may become available depending on performance, availability, training progress, and business needs.

Job Qualifications

Required:

- Strong current Pokémon TCG knowledge, with practical familiarity within the last 1–2 years
- Familiarity with Pokémon sets, products, rarities, singles, sealed products, and current releases
- Genuine interest in continuing to keep up with Pokémon products and the TCG market
- Strong customer-service and communication skills
- Reliable attendance and dependable transportation to our Scarborough location
- Ability to work afternoon/evening shifts and maintain regular weekend availability
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced retail environment and handling multiple customers/tasks at once
- Strong attention to detail when handling orders, payments, products, and customer submissions
- Comfortable with basic retail mathematics, pricing, percentages, and checking transaction accuracy
- Ability to follow established procedures rather than making assumptions when unsure
- Ability to work independently, identify tasks that need attention, and remain productive without constant direction
- Professional, respectful, and approachable attitude toward customers and coworkers
- Legally entitled to work in Canada

Assets:

- Previous employment at a trading card, hobby, collectibles, or gaming store
- Previous retail or customer-service experience
- Experience playing or collecting Pokémon competitively or casually
- Experience with Pokémon tournaments, leagues, Play! Pokémon events, or tournament software
- Knowledge of card condition, grading, pricing, counterfeit identification, and handling higher-value cards
- Knowledge of additional TCGs such as One Piece, Gundam, Riftbound, or Yu-Gi-Oh!

Pay: $17.60-$18.75 per hour

Expected hours: 15.0 – 30.0 per week
