About LeisureCraft
LeisureCraft is a second-generation Canadian family business and a leading manufacturer of premium prefabricated indoor and outdoor saunas, cold plunges, wood-fired hot tubs, outdoor furniture, and specialty wood products. Manufactured in Ontario, our products are distributed across Canada, the United States, and international markets through a growing dealer network.
Position Overview
We are seeking a hands-on, floor-focused Production Manager – Manufacturing & Quality to lead, structure, and continuously improve our manufacturing operations. This role ensures products are crafted correctly, completed on time, packaged securely, and ready for shipment.
Rather than sitting behind a desk, the ideal candidate prefers being on the production floor and visiting builder sites. You will work directly with independent and company builder shops across the region to inspect work, resolve recurring quality issues, streamline workflows, and instil practical accountability—all while preserving the premium craftsmanship our customers expect.
Key Responsibilities
1. Production Planning & Execution
- Maintain daily and weekly production schedules to achieve a 95%+ on-time delivery target.
- Monitor order priorities, track component backorders, and eliminate bottlenecks before they impact delivery dates.
- Coordinate cross-functional priorities across production, purchasing, inventory, shipping, and customer support.
2. Builder Shop Management & Quality Control
- Conduct regular, unannounced site visits to builder shops to inspect workmanship, assembly, and materials against approved drawings.
- Establish clear quality standards, inspection checklists, and corrective-action plans for recurring defects.
- Investigate root causes of customer complaints, warranty claims, and shipping damage to prevent repeat issues.
- Inspect incoming lumber and raw materials to ensure strict compliance with quality standards.
3. Continuous Improvement & Standardization
- Eliminate wasteful steps, excessive material handling, rework,
and scrap across builder operations.
- Standardize manufacturing procedures (SOPs), process sheets, and training materials.
- Introduce practical Lean tools, jigs, fixtures, or equipment upgrades with solid business cases.
- Collaborate with engineering during new product development to ensure designs are efficient and consistent to manufacture.
4. Packaging, Inventory & Leadership
- Develop and enforce robust packaging standards to eliminate transit damage and missing components.
- Monitor critical material stock levels, investigate inventory discrepancies, and support ERP integration.
- Lead with clear expectations, professional communication, and direct training for builders and shop staff.
Qualifications & Skill Requirements
Required Qualifications
- Experience: 5+ years of manufacturing leadership/supervisory experience.
- Industry Focus: Background in woodworking, cabinetry, millwork, furniture, prefabricated structures, or related wood products.
- Core Competencies: Strong root-cause problem solving, production scheduling, process documentation, and supplier/builder oversight.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency with ERP/inventory systems and Microsoft Office.
- Licensing & Mobility: Valid driver's licence, reliable vehicle, and willingness to travel regularly to local builder locations.
Preferred Assets
- Experience in Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, or ISO 9001 frameworks.
- Proven track record creating SOPs, quality-control protocols, and training guides.
- Prior experience in growing, entrepreneurial, or family-owned manufacturing businesses.
- Candidate Profile
- You are a floor-first problem solver who thrives on turning chaos into order. When you see a quality issue, you don't just patch it—you find out why it happened, speak directly with the builders, and adjust the process so it doesn't happen again. You balance high expectations with collaborative communication to help our manufacturing ecosystem get better every single year.
