Overview

We are seeking a compassionate, dependable, and professional Registered Care Aide / Health Care Assistant (HCA) to provide safe, respectful, and person-centred care to clients in their homes.
The Care Aide will assist clients with activities of daily living while promoting their dignity, independence, comfort, safety, and quality of life. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with clients, families, nurses, and other members of the care team and follow individualized care plans.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate and respectful personal care based on each client’s individual care plan.
- Assist clients with activities of daily living, including:
- Bathing and showering
- Dressing and grooming
- Toileting and continence care
- Oral hygiene
- Medication Reminder/Supervision/Administration
- Mobility and transfers
- Positioning and repositioning
- Assist with safe ambulation and the use of mobility equipment, including walkers and wheelchairs.
- Assist with meals, meal preparation, feeding, and hydration as required.
- Provide light housekeeping related to the client’s care and safety, such as laundry, changing linens, tidying the client’s living area, and cleaning after meal preparation.
- Provide companionship and emotional support while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries.
- Complete incident reports and communicate significant changes in client’s physical, emotional,
cognitive or behavioural condition to the Clinical Lead in timely manner.
- Follow individualized care plans and directions provided by the Clinical Lead.
- Support clients with prescribed routines and treatments within the Care Aide’s scope of practice and Advent Home Health policies.
- Assist with fall prevention and maintain a secure environment for the client.
- Follow infection prevention and control procedures, including appropriate hand hygiene and use of personal protective equipment.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of care provided and report concerns promptly.
- Respect client privacy, dignity, confidentiality, culture, values, and personal choices.
- Communicate professionally with clients, families, nurses, and other health care team members.
- Respond appropriately to emergencies and follow established emergency procedures.
- Maintain professional boundaries and demonstrate ethical conduct at all times.
- Complete other duties related to client care as assigned within the Care Aide’s scope of practice.
Qualifications
- Must provide current registration with the BC Care Aide & Community Health Worker Registry.
- Recognized Health Care Assistant / Care Aide education and training.
- Current CPR/First Aid certification.
- Previous experience in home care, community care, assisted living, long-term care, or private care is an asset.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English,
both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary care team.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries.
- Ability to safely perform physical duties associated with the position, including assisting with transfers and mobility.
- Valid driver’s licence and reliable transportation may be required for community-based assignments.

Working Conditions This position may involve working in private homes and may include:
- Day, evening, overnight, weekend, and holiday shifts
- Assisting clients with mobility and transfers
- Standing, walking, bending, and other physical activities
- Working independently in a client’s home
- Working with clients who may have complex physical, cognitive, or emotional needs
Pay: $24.00-$28.00 per hour Expected hours: 3.0 – 20.0 per week
