Pay Grade The annual salary range is $70,437- $112,872 (at 100% appointment) and is based on qualifications, experience, and the placement criteria of Article 14 of the NICFA Collective agreement.
Position Summary
Reporting to the Dean of Health & Human Services, programs, or designate, the Health Coordinator supports the Access to Bachelor of Science in Nursing and the Access to Practical Nursing health programing, on-campus, and in-community. The Health Coordinator provides educational leadership in support of students and faculty, including diploma, pathway, and degrees.
The Health Coordinator is accountable for supporting instructional faculty with the delivery of high-quality programming. They may also support the development of new programming and the ongoing review of full-time and part-time programs. The Health Coordinator provides day-to-day work leadership and ensuring participation in the selection process.
Ongoing support of programming involves conducting community and program-based needs assessment, researching and assessing practicum opportunities and placements, establishing curriculum development plans, participating with associated committees, and when opportunities arise, supporting the preparation of relevant reports. The Health Coordinator will actively support enhanced strategic recruitment and retention initiatives.
This role requires the successful applicant to travel between/visit all campuses with health programming and does not follow the traditional academic calendar, and includes working in the months of July and August.

Duties & Responsibilities Coordination of Decanal Operations
1. In collaboration with the office of the Dean, Associate Dean, faculty, and health partners, actively support program development, delivery, and innovation, including institutional and community-based initiatives, and the advancement of funding proposals/applications, and related reporting.
2. Support faculty and, when requested, act as a liaison with the Office of the Dean.
3. Collaborate with the Office of the Dean and the Quality Assurance to support the initiation and program review according to College Policy.
4.
Participate in regular meetings to ensure faculty are apprised of programming and regional developments.
5.In coordination with the Department Chair(s), the coordinator will collaborate with the Office of the Dean to support program/course articulation and external accreditation processes.
1. In coordination with the Department Chair(s), the coordinator will advise on and apply policies of the College to faculty and students as required. Review draft policy as needed. Communicate issues of concern regarding policies to the dean or appropriate committee.
2. Actively engage with relevant College committees.
3. In collaboration with the Office of the Dean and recruitment, participate in recruitment and promotional activities.
4. Guiding the onboarding and orientation of faculty in concert with the Dean’s Office and the Department Chair(s).
5. Developing and facilitating new student orientation to institution and program.
6. Establishing meaningful connections with student and program advisors to better support the students academic and personal success.
7. Maintaining effective communication with interested parties, including faculty, staff, and health partners, to foster collaboration and promote program success.
8. Collaborating with high school recruiters and marketing professionals to increase program visibility and attract prospective students.
9. Ensuring Indigenous-led learning is a key component of the program by working closely with an Elder in Resident and actively recruiting and supporting Indigenous learners.
10. Referring students experiencing challenges to available services to promoting their well-being.
11. And any other associated responsibilities that may evolve in the year as determined by the Dean and/or Associate Dean.
Students Support
1. May support student inquiries while liaising with faculty.
2. May be required, to respond to any student or academic inquiries associated with policy and programs.
Leadership and Planning
1. Work with Department Chair(s), faculty, and department advisory committees to develop mid and long-range program goals to be reviewed and updated on a continuous basis.
2. Encourage and support the professional development of faculty to maintain currency in their field, educational theory, and practice.
3. May advise on program scheduling that best supports student success.
Curriculum Development and Revision
1. Support faculty to maintain, revise, and/or develop and expand educational experiences that appropriately meet the needs of learners, practice, and the various agencies or institutions to which the College is accountable to and/or liaises.
Communication
1. Liaise with Department Chairs on programming and common instructional considerations.
2. Liaise with department members and students regarding matters arising from College committees, when appropriate.
Required Education & Experience
1. Bachelor’s degree and Master’s degree in a relevant health discipline. One degree must be in nursing.
2. Minimum of five years demonstrated experience in post-secondary education, and instruction.
3. Experience in program development, project management, student recruitment, and retention, preferred.
4. Experience engaging and collaborating with practice partners and employers to advance programming and student success initiatives.
5. Experience with community-based programming supporting Indigenous learners, marginalized populations, and inclusive of DEI and adherence and advancement of reconciliation
6. Knowledge of North Island College policies, procedure and systems
Required Knowledge Skills & Abilities
1. Demonstrated leadership skills including the ability to independently and collaboratively lead projects, produce reports, communicate updates and changes, and meet timely deliverables in a self-directed manner.
2. Demonstrated ability to work under tight timelines while managing a qualified rapport with colleagues, practice partners, and students.
3. Demonstrated experience with the design and development of high-quality student learning experiences, integrating learning technologies, applied and blended programming.
4. Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
5. Experienced with student-centred research initiatives.
6. Ability to work both independently, within and across teams; demonstrated ability to reason analytically and problem-solve independently.
7. Proficiency in in the use of computer applications, the internet, and with MS Office software applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, experience with database management, and demonstrated experience using a learning management system (LMS).
8. Able to foster a collegial and positive work environment creating a positive climate and culture of learning .
9. Proven collaborative skills in support of program development and change management activities.
10. Demonstrated respect and commitment to continuous improvement.
11. Demonstrated work ethic and committed to being accountable for the tasks affiliated with the instructional leadership position.
12. Valid BC driver’s license and flexibility to travel between campuses and adjust work hours as required.
