About the Position
Think Immersion Education (TIEDU) is looking for a Part time High School & AP Physics Teacher to join our academic team in Oakville.
We are looking for someone with a strong background in Physics, Engineering, or a related field who can confidently teach Ontario high school physics and AP Physics.
The successful candidate must be able to teach in English and communicate/explain physics concepts in Mandarin Chinese when needed.
Our physics courses emphasize conceptual understanding, mathematical reasoning, and problem-solving — helping students understand not only how to solve a problem, but also the physics behind it.
Courses
Depending on qualifications and experience, the teacher may teach:
- Grade 11 Physics – SPH3U
- Grade 12 Physics – SPH4U
- AP Physics 1
- AP Physics C: Mechanics
- AP Physics C: Electricity & Magnetism
- Other Physics related courses
Responsibilities
- Teach Ontario high school and AP Physics in small-group and private settings
- Deliver clear, structured lessons in English
- Explain difficult concepts in Mandarin when necessary
- Help students develop strong conceptual understanding and problem-solving skills
- Prepare lessons and practice materials based on the Ontario Curriculum and/or AP Physics requirements
- Identify students’ strengths and areas for improvement
- Provide brief student progress feedback when required
- Communicate and coordinate with the academic team
Required Qualifications
- Currently pursuing or have completed a Bachelor’s degree in Physics, Engineering, or a closely related STEM field
- Strong knowledge of high school physics and mathematics
- Able to teach Physics effectively in English
- Able to communicate and explain concepts in Mandarin Chinese
- Robust communication and problem-solving skills
- Reliable and able to maintain a consistent teaching schedule
- Able to teach in person in Oakville
Preferred Qualifications The following are strong assets:
- Previous experience teaching or tutoring SPH3U and/or SPH4U
- Previous experience teaching AP Physics 1
- Familiarity with AP Physics curriculum and exam-style questions
- Ability to teach AP Physics C: Mechanics and/or Electricity & Magnetism
- Bachelor’s or graduate degree in Physics or Engineering
- Experience working with academically motivated high school students
Schedule
- Part-time
- Primarily weekday evenings and weekends
- Small-group, 1-on-1 and 1-on-2 classes
- Teaching hours depend on enrollment and instructor availability
Compensation $28.00–$40.00 per hour
Pay will be determined based on academic background, teaching experience, and the level of Physics courses the candidate is qualified to teach.
Candidates with strong experience teaching AP Physics 1 or AP Physics C may be considered for a higher rate.
