Olea is a Mediterranean-inspired restaurant in downtown Calgary focused on thoughtful hospitality, exceptional food and beverage, and creating memorable experiences for every guest who walks through our doors.

We are looking for a warm, confident, organized, and hospitality-minded Host/Hostess to join our front-of-house team. This is an important role at Olea — our host is often the first and last person a guest interacts with, and we believe that first impression should feel genuine, welcoming, and intentional.

The Role:

As a Host/Hostess, you will be responsible for creating a smooth and welcoming experience from the moment guests arrive until they leave. You will work closely with the management and service teams to maintain the flow of the dining room and ensure our guests feel taken care of throughout their visit.

Responsibilities:

- Warmly welcome and acknowledge every guest upon arrival
- Manage the door, reservations, waitlists, seating, and guest flow
- Escort guests to their tables and provide menus
- Communicate important guest information and preferences to the service team
- Answer phones and respond to guest inquiries in a professional and friendly manner
- Manage OpenTable reservations and ensure accurate guest notes and seating information
- Maintain an organized and polished host stand
- Assist with maintaining the cleanliness and presentation of the front entrance and dining room
- Support servers and management during busy periods
- Communicate clearly with the kitchen, bar, servers, and management team
- Be knowledgeable about the menu, features, drinks, events, and overall Olea experience
- Anticipate guest needs and look for opportunities to go above and beyond
- Follow Olea's service standards and contribute to a positive, professional team environment
- Assist with opening and closing duties as required

- Has previous restaurant or hospitality experience (hosting experience is an asset)
- Is genuinely passionate about hospitality and creating great guest experiences
- Is confident, friendly, and comfortable interacting with a wide variety of guests
- Can remain calm, organized, and qualified in a busy environment
- Has strong communication and multitasking skills
- Is reliable, punctual, and takes pride in their work
- Has a strong attention to detail and understands the importance of presentation
- Works well as part of a team and is willing to jump in wherever needed
- Is eager to learn and grow within the restaurant industry

For the right person, there is an chance to develop into a Host/Server hybrid role, taking on additional serving responsibilities and shifts as you demonstrate strong performance, product knowledge, service skills, and reliability.

This role can be an excellent prospect for someone who wants to build their hospitality experience and progress within a restaurant team. We are happy to provide additional training and support as responsibilities increase.
