Plans with Company Match/Contributions Bonus Plan Eligibility The Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) Manager is responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive safety programs, policies, and procedures to ensure a safe and compliant workplace. This role involves conducting risk assessments, providing training, and maintaining accurate records to promote a culture of safety and environmental responsibility. Environmental compliance monitoring is a priority for this position, including supporting sustainable practices and projects.
The HSE Manager will report to the Operations Manager. Develop and implement company-wide safety programs, policies, and procedures, ensuring effective communication to all employees. Promptly alert management to serious safety issues and collaborate on effective solutions.
Support environmental recordkeeping and administration, including compliance with permits, operating conditions, sampling, and regulatory standards. Maintain multi-site ISO 14001:2015 and 45001:2018 certifications. Maintain current and accurate information on the company’s Incident Management System website.
Keep safety records, including training, evacuations, and accident and incident records. Conduct and manage risk assessments as necessary. Manage and maintain inventory levels of critical PPE,
including FR-rated and aluminized protective garments.
Conduct periodic environmental health and safety inspections. Support department managers and supervisors in following action plans to resolve safety and environmental issues. Develop and provide company-wide training to employees in accordance with OH&S; Act, OSHA, environmental regulations, and company standards.
Co-chair Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC) meetings, manage WSIB claims in collaboration with HR and return to work, manage the Early Safe Return to Work (ESRTW) program (non-work related and WSIB). Coach site leadership and personnel to a HSE interdependent culture. BA/BS degree in Occupational Safety and Health Management, Environmental Sciences, Engineering or related field.
Minimum 5 years progressive HSE responsibilities in a manufacturing environment Experience in training course development, computer-based training programs and training tracking systems. Must have working knowledge of Canadian occupational safety legislation (OH&S; Act) and environmental reporting and regulations. Knowledge of Canada occupational health and safety (CCOHS) and environmental (ECCC) regulations and recordkeeping is a strong asset.
Experience with Behaviour-Based Safety (BBS) programs, Lean/Continuous Improvement/Six Sigma training/certification, and 5S training/certification is advantageous.
Proficiency with leading office software programs (e.g., Excel, Word, and Access). Adherence to Health, Safety & Environmental requirements.
