HR Generalist – Key Responsibilities
- Administer and maintain HR policies, programs, and procedures.
- Provide day-to-day HR support and guidance to managers and employees.
- Coordinate recruitment, hiring, onboarding, and employee documentation.
- Prepare and maintain job descriptions and support compensation administration.
- Support employee relations, attendance, performance management, and disciplinary processes.
- Coordinate employee training and development programs and maintain training records.
- Administer employee benefits and respond to employee inquiries.
- Support workplace health and safety programs, including injury management and return-to-work processes.
- Maintain accurate and confidential employee records and HR documentation.
- Ensure HR practices comply with applicable employment, health and safety, human rights, and other workplace legislation.
- Respond to employee questions, concerns, and requests in a timely and professional manner.
Payroll Administration
- Coordinate and administer biweekly payroll processing, ensuring accurate and timely payroll.
- Review and verify employee time records, attendance, overtime, vacation, leaves, and other payroll-related information.
- Process new hires, terminations, wage changes, deductions, and other employee status changes in the payroll system.
- Maintain accurate payroll and employee records and ensure required documentation is completed.
- Respond to employee payroll inquiries and resolve payroll discrepancies in a timely manner.
- Prepare payroll-related reports and assist with year-end payroll requirements, including T4s and other required documentation.
- Liaise with payroll providers and internal management to resolve payroll issues and ensure payroll information is accurate.
- Assist with statutory payroll requirements, including CPP, EI, EHT, and other applicable deductions and remittances.
Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 3–5 years of progressive HR experience, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Experience with full-cycle recruitment, employee relations, performance management, benefits administration, and HR administration.
- Hands-on experience with biweekly payroll processing and payroll administration.
- Experience with ADP Workforce Now and timekeeping systems such as Time Guardian is an asset.
- Working knowledge of Ontario employment standards, occupational health and safety, human rights, and other applicable workplace legislation.
- Experience administering employee benefits and supporting workplace injury and return-to-work processes.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel and Outlook.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- CHRP/CHRL designation or working toward designation is an asset.
- Experience in a manufacturing setting and knowledge of WSIB processes are considered assets.
Pay: $30.00-$37.00 per hour Expected hours: 30.0 – 42.5 per week
