Position Summary
- The HR Business Partner (HRBP), in accordance with the agency's policies, standards, and guidelines, provides trusted, expert operational HR support to people managers across CMHA Simcoe County Branch. The HRBP is the primary HR contact for day-to-day employee relations, attendance management, accommodations and return-to-work, performance management coaching, policy guidance, and learning and development delivery. The role works in close partnership with the Director and Manager Human Resources and Organizational Development, and specialist colleagues, including the HR & OD Specialist, Recruitment Specialist and Health & Safety Specialist, to ensure consistent, compliant, and people-centred HR service delivery across all programs and sites. The HRBP also provides operational support to HR technology projects, including contributing to the implementation and user adoption of the new Payroll and HRIS system.
What You'll Do
- Serve as a trusted HR advisor and primary point of contact for managers on employee relations, attendance management, accommodations, return-to-work programs, performance management, and HR policy interpretation.
- Provide expert coaching and guidance to leaders on employment legislation, HR best practices, employee performance, workplace conflict, and complex employee relations matters.
- Lead employee relations activities, including workplace investigations, corrective actions, grievance resolution, attendance management, and accommodation processes while ensuring compliance with legislation and organizational policies.
- Partner with leaders and subject matter experts to support employee wellness, psychological health and safety, workplace accommodations, and return-to-work planning.
- Coordinate and deliver learning, training, and leadership development initiatives that support employee growth and organizational effectiveness.
- Support the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of HR policies, procedures, and programs to ensure legislative compliance and operational excellence.
- Promote an inclusive, equitable, and psychologically safe workplace by incorporating diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB) principles into HR practices and decision-making.
- Support HR technology initiatives, including HRIS and payroll system implementation, process improvements, data integrity, and user adoption.
- Analyze workforce trends and maintain accurate HR records, documentation, and reporting to support data-driven decision-making.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to enhance employee experience, organizational culture, and HR service delivery across the organization.
- Contribute to organizational initiatives, projects, and continuous improvement efforts that support strategic priorities and operational effectiveness.
- Represent the organization's mission, values, and commitment to exceptional employee and workplace practices in all interactions.
Required Qualifications
- 3 to 5 years of progressive HR experience with demonstrated depth in employee relations case management, preferably within a non-profit or healthcare environment.
- Post-secondary diploma or degree in Human Resources,
Business Administration, or a related field.
- CHRP or CHRL designation, or active progress toward designation.
- Demonstrated experience managing workplace investigations, corrective actions, and complex ER matters independently.
- Experience in a healthcare, social services, or not-for-profit setting is preferred.
- Must have access to a vehicle, a valid Ontario G driver's license, and adequate automobile insurance.
- Submission of a Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC), including a Criminal Record Check (CRC) in good standing.
- Fluency in French or another second language would be an asset.
- Legally entitled to work in Canada.
- Salary Scale
- HRBP: $61,600 - $70,000 *per annum
Hours of Work
- Thirty-five (35) hours per week, Monday to Friday
- Able to work within a flexible framework to respond to client needs.
- Work location in-person.
