Human Resources, Policy & Program Support Officer The Vera Perlin Society – St. John’s, NL The Vera Perlin Society is a not-for-profit, charitable organization dedicated to supporting individuals with intellectual disabilities. Our mission is to secure and provide high-quality services and supports for individuals and their families in St. John’s and surrounding areas, enabling full participation in all aspects of community living.
We are seeking a Human Resources, Policy & Program Support Officer to play a central role in the day-to-day HR and labour relations functions of our organization.
This position is responsible to the Executive Director and Chief Financial & Administration Officer to oversee core HR operations, including payroll administration, health and pension benefits, employee relations, staff training and development, and basic accounting tasks related to payroll reconciliation and benefits administration.

Key Responsibilities:
Oversee daily HR operations, ensuring compliance with organizational policies and employment legislation
Administer payroll, group benefits, and pension plans with accuracy and confidentiality
Perform basic accounting duties such as payroll reconciliation, benefits tracking, and supporting financial documentation
Coordinate employee training,
onboarding, and professional development initiatives
Maintain HR records, documentation, and reporting requirements
Support management and staff on HR policies, procedures, and best practices
Contribute to a positive, respectful, and inclusive workplace culture
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Labour Relations, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
Demonstrated ability to manage sensitive information with a high degree of confidentiality and professionalism
Strong knowledge of federal, provincial, and local employment laws and regulations
Basic accounting knowledge, including payroll reconciliation and familiarity with financial documentation
Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to work independently with minimal supervision
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Sage Accounting Software, with robust overall computer skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with employees, management, families, clients, and community partners
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities
Compensation:
Contract position The salary for this position is set at $66,000–$71,000 per annum.
