HVAC Mechanical Engineer II

Work Location: Remote – Greater Calgary Area
Job Responsibilities – What You’ll Do
- Consistently deliver high-quality work, demonstrating ownership/accountability for assigned projects and deadlines, with management oversight
- Develop and maintain strong client relationships by understanding their needs, providing technical solutions, and delivering exceptional services by acting as a primary point of contact for clients including addressing inquiries, concerns, and providing project updates
- Work closely with interdisciplinary teams that include an array of stakeholders’ requests, concerns, and needs to create actionable plans for continuous improvement in client environments
- Cultivate and grow client relationships while evaluating, monitoring, and advising on large commercial HVAC systems - chiller plants, DX and chilled water air handling systems, fan coils, VAV units and other HVAC equipment commonly used in commercial and public buildings as well as data centers
- Apply HVAC mechanical engineering knowledge and building automation experience to collect and analyze building system data and offer expert insights and recommendations to enhance system efficiency, sustainability, and cost-effectiveness
- Proactively anticipate client needs, identify risks/blockers to project success, and demonstrate a solution-oriented approach to challenging situations
- Take ownership of relevant project scope including leading gameplan/backlog development with appropriate client stakeholders, adapt action plans as needed, and provide oversight for junior engineers completing assigned work
- Stay current with industry trends, codes, and best practices in mechanical engineering
- Additional contributions as assigned
Education and Licensure
- Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience and training

- Demonstrate proficiency in Mechanical Engineering fundamentals
- 3+ years of HVAC mechanical engineering design, commissioning, data analytics, peer review, optimization, and/or consulting experience
- Building Management Systems (BMS) experience
- Above average proficiency in data analytics and data visualization with experience using Power BI or similar Business Intelligence tools to manage HVAC system configurations, create data storage repositories and perform Fault Detection Analysis for large commercial and public buildings
- Proficiency with Excel (pivot charts, data normalization, basic calculations, charts/graphs)
- Ability to master new applications and methods for data analysis, and incorporate them into client projects as needed
- Demonstrated leadership and mentorship capabilities for co-workers and less experienced team members.
- Excellent project management, time management, and problem-solving skills, meeting scheduled deadlines and budget requirements
- Strong people and communication skills with the ability to build and maintain client relationships with minimal support and supervision
- Commitment to ongoing learning and skill development
- Ability to work regular business hours Monday through Friday with occasional travel

Compensation – What DBT Engineering Offers
- Salary: $128,000-$157,000 CAD, determined by education, skills, experience and certifications
- Status: Exempt
- Bonus:
Annual bonus package includes eligibility for a company-wide performance-based bonus as well as an individual contribution bonus.
