The Import Transportation
Supervisor is responsible for leading the day-to-day execution, performance, and development of an import transportation team. As the first formal people leader within International Operations, this role owns operational accountability while also driving employee growth through intentional leadership development. A critical function of this role is conducting structured 1:1 conversations, including bi-weekly or monthly development meetings, quarterly performance reviews, and behavioral coaching sessions focused on growth, accountability, and career pathing. The Supervisor must combine operational expertise with intentional leadership, creating clarity, accountability, and development opportunities that strengthen both individual performance and team success. This role plays a critical part in building future leaders, improving team performance, and strengthening Mohawk Global’s culture of accountability, trust, and continuous improvement.
Ensure consistent service quality and timely communication across all accounts Maintain strong operational connectivity to ensure visibility into team challenges, bottlenecks, and service risks Ensure compliance with internal SOPs, regulatory requirements, and service standards Monitor team productivity, service levels, and operational performance Support implementation of process improvements to increase efficiency and consistency Develop employees’ critical thinking by coaching through solutions rather than simply providing answers Support performance improvement conversations when operational or behavioral concerns arise Conduct regular bi-weekly or monthly 1:1 meetings focused on employee development, behavioral coaching, and career progression Lead quarterly performance reviews to provide structured feedback, evaluate progress, and align development goals Deliver difficult conversations related to performance, accountability, and behavioral expectations when necessary Collaborate with leadership on performance improvement plans, corrective actions, and termination decisions when required Serve as the communication bridge between frontline teams and management Promote cross functional collaboration with Customs Brokerage, Exports, Account Management, and leadership teams Support KPI tracking, operational reporting, and team performance reviews Maintains strong team performance across productivity, service,
and compliance metrics Successfully develops employees through structured coaching, feedback, and career pathing Addresses behavioral and performance issues early and effectively Technical Skills: Advanced knowledge of import transportation operations, workflows, and compliance Strong knowledge of customer SOPs and escalation procedures Team workload planning and prioritization Performance management Process improvement and efficiency optimization Customer relationship management KPI interpretation and action planning Risk management and service recovery Advanced 1:1 leadership and coaching skills Performance accountability and behavioral coaching Talent identification and succession planning Leadership presence and emotional intelligence 5+ years of international transportation or freight forwarding experience ~Proven ability to manage team performance and operational priorities ~ Demonstrated leadership in coaching, accountability, and employee development ~ Experience with KPI reporting and performance analysis Cross-functional knowledge of customs brokerage and export operations Experience leading process improvement initiatives OFFICE / WORK SETTING &
PHYSICAL DEMANDS This position operates in a professional office environment (and/or remotely from a home office) with a quiet to moderate noise level and routinely requires the use of standard office equipment such computers, photocopying machines and storage/filing cabinets.
