Tyrod Industries Ltd. has an immediate opening for an Industrial Sandblaster/Painter Helper to support field projects at various work sites. In this role, you will assist with the surface preparation, sandblasting, painting, and coating of structural steel and piping to specified standards. Many projects require inspections and quality-control documentation completed by NACE-certified coating inspectors.

The successful candidate will have previous industrial sandblasting or painting experience, a robust attention to detail, and the ability to work safely in physically demanding field conditions. The position requires lifting 50 lb bags and supporting coating operations by moving materials, masking flanges, mixing coatings, and completing other assigned tasks. Candidates must be willing to travel and work at remote or changing project locations.

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES

- Travel to and work at various field locations, including remote project sites
- Prepare surfaces for coating by washing, sanding, masking, and abrasive blasting
- Complete industrial blasting, coating, and painting tasks on piping, valves, equipment, and structural steel
- Set up, operate, clean, and maintain blasting and coating equipment, including compressors, blast pots, hoses, and dust-extraction equipment




- Mix and apply coatings in accordance with manufacturer specifications and under the direction of a qualified painter or supervisor
- Handle materials using proper rigging practices, forklifts, and safe manual-lifting techniques
- Read and follow project specifications, coating procedures, safety requirements, and applicable standards
- Identify hazards and complete work in accordance with site-specific safety procedures and required PPE
- Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas at each project site
- Inspect completed work and report progress or deficiencies to the field supervisor
- Work effectively as part of a field crew and adapt to changing schedules, conditions, and priorities
- Assist with other field duties as required

QUALIFICATIONS
- Previous industrial sandblasting or painting experience is an asset
- Knowledge of NACE surface-preparation standards is an asset
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s Licence and reliable transportation
- CSTS, WHMIS, H2S Alive, Confined Space, Fall Protection, and forklift certification are assets
- Familiarity with industrial coating and blasting equipment, including routine inspection and maintenance
- Ability to perform physically demanding work, lift up to 50 lb safely, and work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Willingness and ability to travel, work extended hours, and stay out of town as project schedules require
- Must successfully complete pre-employment and site-access drug and alcohol testing
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Effective organization and time-management skills
- Ability to work safely in a fast-paced, team-oriented field environment

Compensation will be based on experience and training. Travel and a living-out allowance (LOA) may be available, depending on the project location and schedule.

Pay: From $25.00 per hour
