STEPs on Arthur, an adult service centre/day program supporting people with intellectual disabilities, is seeking casual Instructors to join our team.

About the Role

Instructors work alongside individuals who access STEP’s programs to support their goals, interests, choices, and participation in their communities. The role involves building respectful relationships and creating opportunities for people to develop skills, explore employment, community involvement, and participate in meaningful activities.

Instructors collaborate with individuals, families/support networks, colleagues, students, volunteers, and community partners to provide individualized, person-centred support. The role includes supporting individuals with day-to-day activities, life skills, supported employment opportunities, and other goals identified.

We are looking for individuals who value dignity, choice, inclusion, self-determination, and meaningful participation and who are comfortable adapting their approach to meet the needs and preferences of the people they support.

Solid interpersonal, communication, documentation, and organizational skills are important, as is the ability to work collaboratively and respond flexibly to changing priorities.

These are hourly casual positions and may include evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Qualifications and Experience

- Post-secondary education in human services or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, is an asset.




- Experience supporting people with intellectual and/or physical disabilities is an asset.
- Experience supporting individuals in community-based employment or other community participation opportunities is an asset.
- Experience developing or supporting individualized goals and plans is an asset.
- Experience using person-centred and strengths-based approaches is an asset.
- First Aid, WHMIS, NVCI/MANDT, Fire & Life Safety, and Mental Health First Aid certification are assets. Successful applicants who do not currently hold these certifications may be supported to obtain them following hire.
