What You’ll Do The primary responsibility of the IT Administrator is to devote great care to ensuring reliable, secure, and efficient operations of all information systems that support company operations. As a crucial role that supports the activities of almost all company operations, this position is responsible for having and applying specialized knowledge and professional judgment to investigate, analyze, design, build, and operate IT systems that drive business success.
Key Responsibilities
Infrastructure & Systems Administration
- Oversees the administration and management of SpeedLine’s IT Infrastructure, including but not limited to WAN connections, LAN infrastructure, telephone system, servers, virtual servers, workstations, printers, and physical cable infrastructure.
- Plans and directs the implementation of additions, deletions, and major modifications to the IT infrastructure.
- Oversees file management on centralized resources or on individual workstations.
- Manages and maintains network user accounts, access rights for all staff, and server-installed applications.
- Drives automated management of servers and workstations for efficient operations.
IT Security, Backup & Disaster Recovery
- Manages and maintains security system access, including the assigning of passcodes and analyzing/reporting on suspicious or excessive internet usage.
- Keeps current with new security threats, including but not limited to viruses, Trojans, malware, and hacking techniques, and maintains computer security endpoint protection updates on all applicable equipment and systems.
- Ensures that the company’s IT systems are secure against internal and external threats.
- Regularly reviews and applies all necessary firmware, operating system, and application updates.
- Analyzes, designs, and oversees the implementation and administration of all IT security systems.
- Responsible for the design, implementation, and administration of data archiving and internal and external backups.
- Develops disaster recovery and contingency plans to ensure ongoing IT operations.
Asset, Vendor & License Management
- Manages proper licenses and the purchase and tracking of all software, hardware, and IT supplies and assets.
- Builds and maintains vendor relationships.
- Performs capacity forecasting and lifecycle management.
Help Desk, Operations & Documentation
- Oversees the administration of the internal IT help desk and ensures that all interactions are logged and resolved in a timely and efficient manner.
- Ensures that all daily operations procedures are documented and documentation is kept current.
- Records all customer events in the IT Ticketing System and key internal projects in Confluence.
- Reviews monthly customer satisfaction metrics with the Manager.
Strategy, Governance & Compliance
- Applies specialized knowledge and professional judgment in problem-solving and to investigate, analyze, design, build, and operate IT systems that drive business success.
- Provides input into IT strategy, annual IT budget, and IT acceptable use policy development.
- Keeps abreast of IT technology and maintains a library of information.
- Maintains the confidentiality of confidential information and shares it only with those authorized to access it.
Training, Support & Knowledge Sharing
- Trains staff on IT systems as required and keeps them abreast of system changes.
- Provides technical advice to SpeedLine staff and sometimes customers.
We're Looking For Someone Who
- Preferably holds a post-secondary degree, diploma, or certificate program in a related field, accompanied by current certifications or equivalent expertise.
- Has experience with advanced operating systems, networking, and system support knowledge and experience,
paired with excellent typing and general computer skills alongside the ability to learn new software and systems quickly.
- Obtains strong analytical and problem-solving skills, combined with the ability to work independently, investigate issues thoroughly, and make sound professional judgments.
- Is highly organized and detail-oriented, with a strong ability to multitask, juggle multiple projects, adapt quickly to changing priorities, and manage competing demands effectively.
- Demonstrates project management skills to handle day-to-day projects from initiation to completion, ensuring all milestones are met with precision and accuracy.
- Has exceptional verbal and written communication skills, paired with a proven track record of strong teamwork and interpersonal abilities.
- Is customer service-oriented with a confident, authentic personal presentation and a strong commitment to professional service.
- Remains dependable, accountable, and detail-oriented, with a consistent record of following through on commitments, meeting deadlines, and maintaining the confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Has the ability to reliably commute to the office on time and work on-site during scheduled business hours.
- A satisfactory criminal record check is a condition of employment for this position
Salary Range $73,000-$80,000
Working Arrangements
We offer flexible work arrangements to support a healthy work-life balance. This role offers a Hybrid working model, with 3 days per week required in the office.
