Position Overview

Crystal Fountains is seeking a Junior CNC Machinist – Setup & Operator to join our Manufacturing Operations team. This hands-on role works in a high-mix, engineered-to-order workplace producing custom components for commercial and architectural water features.

Key Responsibilities

- Machine Setup & Operation: Set up and operate CNC mills and lathes, including loading programs, materials, tooling, fixtures, and workholding.
- Tooling & Offsets: Install and change tooling, set tool and work offsets, and make routine machining adjustments as required.
- Technical Interpretation: Read and follow engineering drawings, dimensions, tolerances, and manufacturing instructions.
- Inspection & Quality: Perform first-piece and in-process inspections using calipers, micrometers, and other precision measuring equipment.
- Troubleshooting & Support: Identify setup, tooling, machine, or part-quality issues and communicate concerns to the CNC Lead or supervisor.
- Shop Standards: Complete deburring and secondary operations, maintain production records/shop-floor scanning, and follow 5S and safety requirements

Qualifications

- Experience: 2–3 years of CNC machining, setup, or machine operation experience preferred.
- Candidates must be able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing, to safely follow work instructions,



complete documentation, and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Technical Skills: Experience setting up CNC mills and/or lathes with working knowledge of tooling, fixtures, offsets, speeds, and feeds.
- Drawing & Inspection: Ability to interpret engineering drawings and tolerances and use precision measuring equipment.
- Assets: Basic understanding of CNC programs/G-code, stainless steel machining, and related college or trade training are assets.
- Attributes: Strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, willingness to learn, and commitment to producing quality work.
- Commitment to safety protocols and quality standards throughout all project phases.
- Applicants must be legally entitled to work in Canada and may be required to proof of eligibility upon hire. Employer sponsorship is not available for this position.

Qualified candidates may be required to complete a hands-on practical assessment covering machine setup, drawing interpretation, offsets, measuring equipment, and basic troubleshooting.
