Ali Budd Interiors

Toronto

Ali Budd Interiors is a female-led interior design studio specializing in high-end residential and hospitality projects across North America and internationally. Our work is layered, thoughtful, and deeply intentional. We value ideas over trends and collaboration over individual ego.

The studio takes pride in providing a holistic approach to interior design, offering services including space planning, construction documentation, project coordination, custom furniture, millwork, lighting and styling.

Job Summary: We are looking for a talented Junior Interior Designer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for creating functional and aesthetically pleasing interior spaces. You will collaborate closely with Senior Designers and Project Leads to deliver innovative design solutions for our clients.

Responsibilities

- Design & Technical Support: Support the design team in producing accurate, detailed drawing packages, including floor plans, reflected ceiling plans, elevations, sections, millwork drawings and other design documentation. Translate approved design concepts into transparent drawings under the direction of Senior Designers and the Design Director. Incorporate markups and revisions accurately and efficiently. Maintain clean, organized and current CAD files across multiple projects. Drawings are prepared to communicate design intent; technical feasibility, structural requirements, field conditions and construction methods are to be verified by the appropriate architect, engineer, contractor or consultant.
- Design Development: Support the development of design concepts from initial inspiration through execution, including mood boards, material palettes, furniture, lighting, plumbing, finishes and other selections. Research and source products and materials that align with the approved design direction, project requirements and budget.
- Space Planning:

Prepare furniture plans and architectural layouts under the direction of the senior design team, considering function, scale, circulation and the overall design intent.
- Project Support & Coordination: Support Senior Designers and Project Leads in keeping projects organized and moving forward. Maintain accurate project folders, specifications and documentation; track selections, approvals, revisions, samples and outstanding items; and keep internal project trackers and schedules current. Assist with coordination and follow-up with vendors, trades, consultants, architects and contractors as directed.
- Procurement & Specifications: Assist with obtaining pricing, requesting samples, preparing specifications and purchase information, reviewing vendor documentation and following up on product details, lead times and availability. Flag discrepancies, missing information or potential issues promptly to the senior design team.
- Client Meetings & Presentations: Assist in preparing client presentations and materials and participate in client meetings as required. Take clear notes, document decisions and feedback, and ensure resulting revisions and action items are accurately captured.
- Site Visits & Installations: Attend site visits, installations and project meetings as required to document progress, take measurements and photographs, identify discrepancies between site conditions and the design documentation, and communicate issues promptly to the Project Lead. Assist with installations and styling as required.
- Team & Studio Support: Work collaboratively across the ABI team and be willing to jump in wherever needed. Manage multiple priorities,

meet deadlines, communicate proactively and take ownership of assigned tasks. Maintain the high level of accuracy, organization, responsiveness and attention to detail expected across all ABI projects.

Requirements:
1. Experience: 2-5 years of experience in interior design, working in a professional interior design or architecture studio.
2. Portfolio: A strong portfolio demonstrating proficiency in space planning, material selection, technical drawing etc.
3. Software Skills: Proficiency in AutoCAD for producing full construction drawing packages, proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign), working knowledge of SketchUp, Enscape, or similar 3D software, and knowledge of presentation tools (PowerPoint etc.)
