Role Overview The Jr.
Product
Developer supports the end-to-end product development process, from initial concept through to final production. This role works closely with the Sr.
Product
Developer, Design team, manufacturers, suppliers, and internal teams to ensure products meet the required standards for design, fit, quality, cost, and delivery timelines. This is a contract position with the opportunity to transition into a full-time role.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the development of new footwear styles from concept through production.
- Prepare and maintain product specifications, tech packs, BOMs, and development documentation.
- Coordinate samples, prototypes, fit samples, and wear-test samples with factories and suppliers.
- Track sample development and ensure comments and revisions are communicated clearly and accurately.
- Assist with footwear fitting sessions and document fit comments and required adjustments.
- Work with vendors to ensure materials, components, colours, and construction details meet product requirements.
- Review samples against specifications and identify discrepancies or areas requiring improvement.
- Support wear testing and product performance evaluations, including material durability and construction.
- Maintain accurate product development records, timelines, and sample status.
- Communicate with vendors regarding development updates, revisions,
and production requirements.
- Assist with quality control and pre-production processes to ensure products are production ready.
- Help manage development timelines and follow up on outstanding actions to keep projects on schedule.
- Travel to China for product development & production inspection.
Qualifications & Skills
- 1–3 years of experience in footwear product development and production
- Knowledge of the apparel & accessories industry is an asset.
- Strong interest and understanding of footwear construction, materials, and manufacturing.
- Ability to read and work with technical specifications and product documentation.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Comfortable communicating with factories and vendors.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Creative Suite.
- Ability to manage multiple styles and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong problem-solving and follow-up skills.
- A degree, diploma, or relevant education in footwear, fashion, product development, or a related field is an asset.
Pay: $50,000.00-$65,000.00 per year
